Pick him up! Opposition teams can't tag both him and Stiffy, rotate him forward or onto the ball. If he keeps himself injury free 3 more years at least in him. If we were thinking some mature age players to top up our experienced heads around the club, well here's a bloke who's been living and breathing one of the most successful clubs (as much as it pains me greatly to say it) of the last few seasons. No brainer.
If we got Davis, would it be possible to play all three of Jaensch, Johncock and Davis in the backline together or would it be too small? They could almost rotate on the wing although I guess we would need to move someone off the wing as well...

I think you just proved TW13's point. Why are we still citing that as a reason not to recruit mature-age players? It was nearly a decade ago. Forget about it, get past it. We've carried that cross for nearly ten years and it's probably contributed to our conservative approach to recruiting and trading. It is time to move on.
Treat each situation on its merits, and picking up Davis for the right price has plenty of merit.

Davis has just come off probably the best season of his career, couldn't say that about Duck and R Burns. Totally different.

I think these types of moves are all or nothing. You do it to win a flag and its genius, if not its a bit of a waste.
For example we were criticised in 1995 or 6, for not picking up Matt Clape. By 1998 when his career was over, the player we opted for was doing cartwheels on the mcg on the last day in september. One Peter Vardy.
I wouldnt mind davis, but I feel he is probably a little to old, and we're a bit too far off to get excited about it. So Id go for a younger player.

I say pick him up, 2 year contract. Alot of people are saying no way, what a joke but think about it. As much as i love him but Big rutten is getting a tad 2 slow & when he goes sum1 like johncock may have to fill the space. With milburn & sanderson defence is going to be the key & all the younger kids are forwards & midfielders. SO have a mature age backline till talia & mackernan have 50 or more games under their belt before your bring another kid down there. Davis would add more run & experience down there for a season or two before its time to bring some more kids down there. Hope it makes sense haha. I SAY WELCOME to NEON LEON.

I would rather play Talia or Mckeran full back than sellar, i had sellar down as being delisted but lucky 4 him they delisted some of the kids. But you get what i am saying, having Leon would bring more experience down back & if they needed a change down forward sando could send johncock or davis down & still have a running man down bak

Trigg was on both 5AA and TV tonight commenting on our favourable draw. Gave it 8/10 but said we had one like it last year and look where we finished.
Both times he was asked whether Adelaide were interested in getting hold of Leon Davis. Each time his answer was the same in that we have the same problem as Collingwood as we don't have the room in our cap to pay him what he wants.
Pity really, because its not often we can pick up an AA player for nix in the PSD.
