Let me start by saying, I have always been a fan of Leon's.
However in the past this was based more on hope than a genuinely confident feeling of him fulfilling his potential.
Over the past 2 - 3 years he has emerged as a bone fide star of the team. He gives us an X factor that cannot be easily quantified.
He has gone from hit and miss forward pocket goal sneak to a legitimate game breaking midfielder. Once when he was down he was a non factor in games to the extent he was a virtual non-contributor, now even on bad days he tackles and provides pressure and can have an influence without even scoring.
It's rare that a bloke you pin your hopes on to become the player you hope he can be, actually realises those expectations, but Leon is that player for me.
Some opposition supporters are still mired in the thinking he's a front running, hot and cold goal sneak who goes missing when the pressure is applied, but I firmly believe he has evolved into an elite AFL player.
I sincerely hope he gets another chance to prove his efforts in the 2002 & 2003 GF's were not a true reflection of him and how he is to be judged by the wider football community.
