THIS WAS ANON FORWARDED ON TO ME

>>I have spoken to Andrew Leoncelli and his response to start with was the
>standard line. "We are professional footballers and should only be affected
>by what happens inside the football department at Melbourne and not what the
>board does. Although this is what we should be doing it was difficult to
>avoid and may have distracted some players during the week, but it is still
>no excuse for losing yesterday.">
>After that I did manage to get some real information out of him that you
>would be more interested in, although he would probably not want to be
>quoted on it, unlike his first answer. he went on to say>
> "The board are playing personal politics and trying to get their own
>mates in their. I don't really care who is president as long as they sort
>this out quickly. I am here to play for the club and not the board. If they
>allow it to drag on until the end of the season it will become more than a
>side show, it will split the membership and become the biggest circus in
>town. Although I have no real opinion either way a number of the guys are
>supportive of Joe after the way he has stood up for the guys (obviously
>referring to Sharwz) when things have gone against us. I also know what the
>members think of him and fair enough, he has help the club enormously
>(money) and said what he believes about the game.''>
>He did go on further but it all implied the players want a vote on it just
>so they will know what is happening. If it was called they can stay out of
>it and everyone will know what is happening rather than reading and
>listening about the what they say in the press. The players who have an
>opinion on the matter are behind Gutnick.

hmmmmmm interesting

shane, i have heard about this going around and i know for a fact that the players and officials are told the standard reply for this and it is "NO COMMENT" we had a pre match function befroe the game on sunday and there is always a rep from the club there. he said that all the officials and admin are told that they are not allowed to comment. now if chell has said this to a friend or accquaitance then maybe that paerson should have passed on the info. then again they could have overheard. either way, im sure the players r staying out of it, and arent taking sides in the argument because that is when it gets unfair on all parties and the players will definately suffer.

hey no harm it was passed onto me. I'm sure everyone has an 'official line' - all I'm saying is this was a conversation passed onto me. Read it, interpret it for what you want ... just found it VERY interesting ...

the person passed it on, cause he believed it was valid - would help get rid of some preconceptions about joe & the club

yeah and im not hanging on u, im just cautious about these kinds of things. thats all.

should the players be allowed to vote on something like this?????? i guess if they r members then they will but i s'pose they need to have a say about the direction of their footy club.
