Seems that way, all depends on whether they get Treloar or not. Treloar is worth much more than their first round pick. Would be their first and a decent player you would think.

Cant see that happening. After the compensation we gave up to land Beams, there is no way Lions will give him up for a second round pick. Plus, the Adelaide clubs would offer more, where the Danger compo is where it will most likely land.

Dlanod, David Joyce seems to be doing a good job at GWS. What's your opinion of him?

I haven't had much visibility into what exactly is his impact versus anyone/anything else, but the Giants are running out games and seem to be using their players' strengths more, e.g. Cameron is stronger, Downie is a unit, Ward and Steele are both beasts but Scully and Whitfield are slimmer as they're the runners.

ON SEN last night, in a discussion between, Connelly, Adrian Flecthcer, and Finey - they described the Lions as the 'best worst' team in a long time. Said rarely would you have a wooden spoon side pushing Top 4 teams like we have been doing. interesting thought, probley tend to agree, I know a lot of Dee's friends of mine are especially 'spooked' going into this weekend and view it as a genuine 50/50 - you wouldn't normally have a wooden spoon side going into most weeks with a chance.

I don't see how blaming Leppas coaching for todays effort resolves anything. How about the players taking some responsibility. Adcock was poor, Staker might as well of stayed home, Rocky was quiet, players not wanting to chase and man up and not to mention the injury toll.

Rocky had 17 tackles. Amazing effort given he was watched closely and the other mids (Beams, Hanley) were on crutches and Rich did very little.

Well I think we need to get behind Leppa as a coach, there is no silver bullet fix to this clubs woes this year and people whinging on twitter etc only destabilises the situation for the entire club. They have a long term plan in place and people have to understand that, remember Leppa did inherit a basket case of a club, years of poor recruiting a bad player management are not going to be resolved in a season.

However going into this years draft and trade the club must secure a KPF, Schache might be a great long term prospect but we need a ready made forward who can hit the ground running come round 1 next year, and that is the big challenge for the Lions.

We may have a long term place but sometimes performances like today just aren't acceptable. People are tired of losing. We are tired of seeing very little to no improvement in our team. We bleed for this team and sometimes it looks like the blokes out there aren't bleeding for the club.

I'm curious, how many years of abject failure are you willing to accept from the coaches before you've had enough? Is there anything about leppitsch that makes you think he's a guy capable of getting the club another premiership?

Every coach comes to a point in time where they either deliver or move on. Leppa is nowhere near that point yet.
Voss was given 5 years and went no where, it was time for him to go.
Leigh Matthews has even said that you have 4 years to turn a clubs fortunes around or move on.

Leppa and his recruiting team have got to get this years draft right, they need to recruit some young guns and also secure a mature KPF. This is critical to the club and Leppas coaching future.

If things are still this disfunctional this time next year, then Leppa's performance will be fair game.

The problem with Leppa I have is that I was keen to see how the likes of Rich, Redden, Rockliff, Mayes, Zorko, Green etc... develop under him. Most of these you cannot pull out the "Youth Card" to explain their poor performances. Apart from Rockliff who I think has the natural football talent to make a career on his on drive, the rest have been very underwhelming. It seems that leppa gets a free pass because of "Youth", but when you look closer to players that should be taking the next level and are at the age to do so It doesnt look good for Leppa

My exact thoughts when I heard him speak. There are some basic stats that matter, Leppa - Win/loss ratio and who has the higher score when the final siren sounds. Who turned over what in what region of the ground is a pretty distant second.

Will Eddie pay for us to poach an Alastair Clarkson?
Unfortunately our finances are in worse shape than our on field performances so we can't go paying out contracts to get in another coach.
Leppa would want to have a good 12 months coming up or he will be gone

How do you know what O'Donnell has done?

Wasn't saying odonnel doesn't work hard or try to keep up with strategies etc but he worked under lethal at brisbane, then spent 2005-2010 under sheedy and Knights at essendon (not a successful era there) then back to brisbane under voss and now leppa.

Look at most coaches getting senior jobs recently they are coming from stints as assistants at successful clubs where those clubs have been at the forefront of the current preferred strategy for winning in the league.

Supposedly Lloyd strong tip for carlton - freo and Hawks

Hell even Buckley sick though I am saying it came through in a successful pies era and has rebuilt his squad since evolving he pies in a way mick couldn't do for the blues.

^ my point being that we didn't get that with our senior coach but we need to work harder to get senior assistants who have been there as freo did getting Lloyd from hawthorn.
