Lest we forget.
This is the one memorial day worth recognising, imo.
With the number of books, articles, feature films, mini series and documentaries abroad about Gallipoli, Kokoda et al, the likelihood of being able to forget is fairly minimal I would have thought. Still, I suppose this industry employs lots of people, and twice a year gives some a warm, fuzzy feeling, as if they're doing something meaningful.

100 years is a long time ago now. Is there a limit on how far back you need to pay attention to. Yes it is extremely sad that they rushed off and became cannon fodder for mother England, but WW1 was a ridiculous conflict with no clear aggressor. I also admire the conscientious objectors who didn't buy into the vehement anti-German propaganda.
What was Germany??
