Let’s save our beloved BBL before it’s too late......by Shane Watson

Seven round season. Each team plays each other once. Teams alternate home and away games each season. Have it played late December to mid/late January whilst the kiddos still are on summer holiday. One game a night. Have a Christmas eve and Christmas night match. Bring back the 1v4, 2v3 finals system that is more appropriate for a shortened season. Keep the light shows/prematch events/blaring music/entertainment.

More dramatic changes: get rid of one of the Sydney and one of the Melbourne teams. Bring in a Canberra team and a NZ team.

Barely anyone in Australia cares about watching the NZ national team play let alone a domestic side from NZ.

Sure, and let’s deduct a sizeable amount from the tv rights

Why the constant talk of bringing in a New Zealand team? They have their own comp which I’m sure they don’t want to diminish by sending players to ours. Also not sure how teams are gunna fly in and out of NZ to play then for the foreseeable future.

Getting rid of a Melbourne and Sydney side I also disagree with as the Melbourne derby has been one of the successes of the BBL comp.

In my opinion they got greedy and got away from the original aim of the competition. They need to find a way to have the best possible internationals along with the best of our talent available to play as well as shorten the tournament length back to what it was
