Watching this years games has certainly been a pleasure and surprise. The team is playing exciting football, such a number of players have stepped up it has made the Bulldogs depth something to be cherished.

Last week we beat Essendon by 87 points with a side below

Wood Talia Morris
JJ Wood Murphy
Macrae Wallis Hunter
Grant Redpath Dickson
Crameri Stringer Picken
Campbell Bont Dahlhaus
Dale Pruden Biggs Daniel

First game next year and everyone is available, we take 11 players from the above team and have

Wood Fletcher Roberts M Boyd
JJ Hamling Murphy
Macrae Wallis Jong
Stevens Crameri Picken
Stringer T Boyd Honeychurch
Roughead Bont Dahlhaus

C Smith, Libba McLean Webb

Emerg: Minson, Darley Hrovat.
Firstly which team would you put your money on to win and secondly to challenge for a flag experts say you need a core group of 30 senior players. Are we too even across our bottom 16 players and need to sacrifice players to get a quality player in?

Good post.

Interesting you haven't got the highly rated Hrovat in what, the top 33 players? And yeah I'd agree with that assessment with Honey and Hrovat neck and neck for 33rd player.

In answer to your question, I'd back the second team. Mainly because that team would belt the living crap out of the first team physically, with Stevens, Smith, Libba, Boyd, Rough, and a semblance of a backline, while the 2nd team doesn't have Talia or Redpath.

And in answer to your second question, yes I believe we should be looking at trading out a fringer player to assist in jagging a quality player or to get a solid KP player to balance our list better.

Jong and Smith are currently not and won't be in our best 30 and selection so far proves this for Jong

And I fear Smith may not ever make it back so can't count him in either IMO

No Hunter?

I think we trade some players with some value for a ruckman and/or another kpp we can afford to not go to heavy into the draft this year

The second team has an extra player on the field at the moment so they'd win out ;)

Team two actually has a better defensive structure, although I doubt Clay will be ready round 1 next year.
