#2 Dylan Grimes: Contracted until the end of 2015.
#6 Shaun Grigg: Contracted until the end of 2015.
#7 Matt Dea: Contracted until the end of 2014.
#11 Jake Batchelor: Contracted until the end of 2014.
#36 Matthew McDonough: - Contracted until the end of 2014
#43 Todd Elton: Contracted until the end of 2014
#44 Matt Arnott: Contracted until the end of 2014.

IMO this is the realistic group that we have to shop around not much in the way of value there, but there are 2-3 that could be useful in getting us something that we need.

Grimes/Dea/Batchelor - next year I see our back 6 being built around Rance Chaplin Astbury Houli Morris and one of these 3 in the final spot as we move Newman on and look to move Vlastuin into the midfield. With that in mind and the possibility of us bringing in a kid or 2 that could also play there. Of the 3 I'd prefer to keep Grimes as he gives us a little more flexibility as he can play tall or small, but he needs to improve his offensive output.

Grigg was important to us as we rebuilt but if everyone is up and running he would be behind Cotchin Martin Deledio Miles Ellis Conca Vlastuin Foley Edwards & Gordon for a spot in the midfield. If we could snare a early 2nd round pick for Grigg or a player swap for a small defender/forward I'd be taking the deal and suggesting to Grigg it might be in his best interest to move on as he might spend a lot of time in the VFL.

Of the other 3 only McDonough is worth something given he has shown some good signs while playing this year. If we were going to trade him I'd be looking to the 2 SA sides and trying to get a deal for a second round pick or maybe even a player swap. IMO I think we'll keep him and look to develop him as another midfield/forward option. The second half of the VFL season he spent most of his time in that role and looked quite good.

Im probably going to get killed about what im about to write but , i believe that we may be able to find some hidden treasures at the Melbourne Football Club

Simply going by these players as juniors and talent they displayed whilst juniors and the skill set they have that we are short of, Im thinking that the development of talent at Melbourne combined with the loseing culture may have just hindered these boys and in the Tiger Den they well and truly could become Hidden Gems in the Anthony Miles type scenario.

1. Sam Blease , Very talented junior with great skills thats lightning quick and a real tiger supporter that just hasnt been given a proper shot at it since having major injuries in his first 2 years 184cm 80kgs

2. Luke Tapscott , Showed a fair bit in his first year at melbourne then had injuries (hamstring i believe)and fell out of favour after Paul Roos came along, Strongly built south aussie boy that was very much in the Jack Darling type but shorter but plays tall. has been played across half back since being drafted by melbourne and another kid thats probably looking for a move and could be that medium foward that can pinch hit in the midfield in the way chapman has been played.

3, Jimmy Toumpas , Another maligned player at melbourne that just hasnt adapted to the AFL or appears that way but top tier talent that went i believe at #4
Good outside player with 'some' inside ability with elite disposal and good endurance and speed, South aussie kid that probably just need a change of envoirment and needs to be at a winning club to gain confidence and belief to bring out the best in him, With Chocco i think the RFC could definately do that.

I believe all these kids are getable and would come fairly cheaply or for reasonable trades of fringe players currently on our list

Jimmy Toumpas - Shaun Grigg or 2nd rounder
Luke tapscott - 3rd rounder or Shaun Hampson (i wish)
Sam Blease - 3rd / 4th rounder

Whilst im not saying that we should get all these boys i certainly wouldnt mind if we did as they were all extremely highly rated & Talented kids whilst juniors and have really had not much to play for or been given much leadership or development in the AFL system due to Melbournes sh!tness
Yep i like blease is a good player for us and toumpas has alot of potential i reckon

if we are gunna suggest getting players like WHE, can we at least quantify how we plan to get them?

the way people are shopping, you'd swear we have 2-3 top 10 picks to trade

Tom Mitchell should be priority #1 followed by Shiel/WHE

Gotta swing for the fences this time, not go after more B graders and below
This.

Mitchell is a touch overrated? o_O Hmmm....

WHE i wouldn't mind having a genuine crack at too.

Mitchell, Shiel, WHE..... there is our shopping list and if anything, we would get one.

Stating the obvious, Tigers need to be aggressive.....

If we got any 1 of these players i would be over the moon , Cant see it happening
We just never seem to attract the cream

We won't get a damn thing out of GWS without a player saying they want out and nominating us.

They are in a strange position where they don't really need much. They'll only be interested in players that are best 18 at their current club and in the 22-28 age bracket.

If we want WHE or Shiel GWS are likely to reply "okay, we want Deledio". A trade for these guys just isn't going to happen without them demanding out.

yep, and its why I think calls like "lets get 2 of the 3 GWS kids wanting to come home" are laughable

Yeah I've often thought Blease could be a good get but due to almost certain ridicule, like you I've generally kept it to myself. Tapscott I haven't seen a lot of but from memory he was a high draft pick. toumpas was pick 4 in 2012 IIRC so would be tough to get for nothing.

Wouldn't be unhappy at recruiting any of these 3 THE_GUN, but I'd suggest you may be undervaluing them.

Well he can't get a game in Sydney's side, so u tell me?? The have a strong team but if he was as good as ppl are saying, he would playing.
To be fair i'm not sure what more he can do to hold his spot.

Mitchell is not overrated. Overpaid for now but his value was dictated due to the esteem the Swans held him in.

This year he had an injury and a few other things went against him but when he played, boy was he good. In one game 13 tackles. He's a talented kid but also works hard.

What do we offer Sydney? Start with our first pick. Add a player if they want it. Swap of third rounders.

Whatever. Adding an A grader is so what we need. Mitchell is a gun. Too good to not try and get.

Definitely not overrated. They won't take our first because Carlton and a few others teams below us would be falling over themselves to offer their first pick. Would have to add something for sure.

Reckon Batch is on the trade table along with Dea Arny and Elton...

I suspect you are right but Carlton are heavily into the tall for GWS. If I know what GWS are like they would want a first for him.

I suspect we need to convince Tom that we are the best destination for him. If we do that then it will make our job easier.

You didn't really get me... he could've hardly done more against us with 29 disposals and 13 clearances but still got dropped.
Yes he was good. He doesn't seem like that game breaker that we are crying out for though

Mitchell and Miles at the coalface makes our prime ball users much more damaging. I agree that I think we're lacking an x-factor player that can change momentum with a desperate tackle or a miracle goal from a crumb or an incredible screamer, but I would still rather Tom Mitchell than WHE if the price for both is similar.

He is a game breaker just not in the flashy sense. The same way Nat Fyfe or Josh Kennedy can start dominating stoppages and contested ball to win a game of football.

Besides which we have 4 game breakers in the sense i think you are suggesting in Deledio, Cotchin, Martin and Jack. And S.Edwards and Ellis who can do it but not as regularly as those listed above. Griff, Vlas, Vickery and Lennon all have that potential too
