Let's get creative with trades

Mitch Clark = NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

James Frawley = Something just isn't right and think he would take the club for a ride

Would like to get one or two of Mitch Robinson, O'Keefe, Nathan Jones, leroy jetta or James Gwilt?

Who else is available? Who has been publicly outed as trade bait by other clubs?
Nathan Jones would be handy..

I like your train of thought RT......

What are the odds of potentially 2 of your 4 being available at 20, and of the 4, who would be the more preferred combo?
Personally I'd like Duggan and Menadue, at this stage it's possible they will both be available. Combine will give a bigger indication.

You know what, that's a very, very interesting post. Was the last club I was thinking of trading with.

Loath to take anything good off Melbourne though...still feel a bit bad about snatching those Royboys in the early 90s.

We wouldn't have our current CEO if we hadn't.

Who did we get?

M.Gale
Broderick
Dundas
Elliot
Baldwin

If you want a trade to eventuate don't post it because the odds of a trade being posted here happening in the AFL is probably 0%. ;)

Those two mentioned will be the backbone of this club. Not even an option IMO. Dangerfield didn't have a great year. Martin a similar type player anyway.
Dangerfield is the elite of the elite... A class above what we have. I'd give those two in a heartbeat for him.

Still have rance chaplain and grimes down back. And will boast a midfield of dangerfield, Cotchin, deledio Martin then players like conca, titch, miles, foley being your 5th, 6th 7th 8th midfielder... Look out.

Have to be bold and give to get. That trade would make us genuine top 4 contenders in my book.

Would it at all be possible a club could snare both Mitch Clark and James Frawley by using their
Influence on compo
Picks as leverage.

With Jacko retired we have a lot more cap room. Say we move on vickery also (wouldn't need with Clark) and maybe grimes or god forbid Chaplin (soft)

Say we offer more than frawley is worth on the open market to ensure the compo for melbourne is early first round, in exchange we get allowed a soft deal for Clark. Say a second round pick or fringe player.

Frawley and Clark for next to nothing and the ability to move on vickery and grimes for picks in first two rounds (or good youngsters)
Advice from an Adelaide supporter: just don't put it in writing!

How to win a premiership in 2015...

1. Conca to West Coast, Gaff to Carlton, Yarran to Richmond
2. Vickery and our first rounder to St Kilda for their number one pick, trade the number one pick + Foley + second round pick for Luke Parker
3. Delist Grigg to make salary cap space and go after Suckling
4. Recruit Mitch Robinson and turn him into the ultimate tagger
5. Recruit Sam Blease and turn him into the ultimate super sub
6. Tell Montagna we will win a flag in 2015 and offer him a 3 year contract

FB: Grimes Astbury Vlastuin

HB: Suckling Rance Yarran

C: Montagna Cotchin Ellis

HF: Martin Griffiths Parker

FF: Edwards Riewoldt Deledio

R: Maric Miles Robinson

I: Batchelor Lennon Houli

S: Blease

= premiership in 2015

Just thinking about our seeming need for speed and chasing Shiel, I'm actually thinking of us going another way.

If we were of the opinion that 2 of Duggan/Garlett/Smith/Menadue would be around in the 20-25 range of the draft, then how about something like the following:

Richmond - Vickery pick 11 & 30
GWS - WHE, pick 20 & 23.

The addition of WHE and 2 of the 4 players I named above would give us the injection of speed and class that we all believe that we need. That would be a creative trade and would as I said go along way towards towards addressing the lack of pace. The big question is, is this something that the club would chase?

That would be an amazing deal for us... so i'm guessing it wouldn't happen.

The big problem is GWS don't like taking picks outside the top 20, one day they will have to but they want to delay that day as long as possible.

To bridge the gap. We need to do something drastic.

We are not near a flag. Not close enough to be complacent.

Be daring. Be bold. Make statements.
Let's start by retiring Newman , delist Thomas and trade Hampson to GWS for their 5th round pick. Go deep deep deep into the draft and Use our last pick on Mckernan. rookie Norwoods Ruckman ( forget his name).

Trade our first round pick for Hoskin Elliot or Dylan Shiel, use our second round pick on the best available mid, use our third round pick on the fastest outside player with the most skill preferably between 186-190cm .

Use our 4th round pick on the fastest outside player with the most skill preferably between 186-190cm

Use out 5th round pick on the fastest outside player preferably between 186-190cm

Trade Madonna to the Crows for Grigg and their 3rd round pick , bundle that pick with Vickery to the Western Bulldogs for Lachy Hunter

Trade Hardwick to Essendon for Nathan Basset

Does Thomas automatically go back to the rookie list if we don't use a pick to upgrade him or was he on a 1 yr rookie contract?

Thinking a 5th round pick is overs for Hampson!!!

All rookie upgrades are for the season only and revert back to being rookies at the end of the year or when the player they replaced comes back from a LTI. Unless they are upgraded to the main list via a late pick in the draft. I hope he stays as a rookie.

Yeah, doesn't deserve to be on the senior list. He can just be a reasonable (at best) backup if we get into trouble with injured mids.....
