Why not get even better?

Let's face it any player who is not happy at their club would want to be in black and white, we are challenging for another tilt in 2011 and who wouldn't want to be apart of our great club and share in its success?

I would seriously love to get Clark from Brissy, he is a real gem. Can push forward and ruck, has age on his side and wants out.

Don't shoot me for this one but also Tambling, I think he would make a great defensive forward/forward pocket Neon Leon replacement.

We have some decent trade bait, Josh, Medders, Leon and Jumping Jack, all of these blokes may want to move on for greener pastures and game time/money, I cannot blame them, have all been great players for the club, but it might be time to part ways.

What would it take to get Clark? our first rounder plus JA/Medders?

Also if the rumers are right then Josh/Medders will be at GC, should get a 2nd rounder? so our 2nd rounder plus Leon for Tambling would get the deal done.

best 22

Toovs Nath Maxy
Harry Chop Heater
Thomo Swanny Johno
Dids Clokey Tambling
Dicky Dawesom Mcaf

Jolly Pendles Bally

Clark Sidey Beamer Wellers

50/50 Blairy and Leroy the Anvil.

Try and stop that teeheee :thumbsu:

Clark, yes please.

Sherman, no thanks. We have much better players of a similar ilk.

Clark on the other hand, would be an outstanding acquisition. It aint going to happen though

Mitch Brown from West Coast would be nice. Nice little twin duo there.

I was all for Tambling until I heard his body is practically shot.

Why can't we target Clark? we don't need to use picks this year, we have a young enough list, we need to trade in ready made.

What do you mean he is only about 24 right?

He has some sort of injury. Genetic.

This is regarding Tarrant:

Sports News First also reports the Pies might have to give up forward Chris Dawes or Jarrad Blight to secure the deal, but that the club is likely to shop around more experienced players like Leon Davis, Josh Fraser or Paul Medhurst.

We wouldn't, would we?

I think we grow our own. Definitel the right move last year bringing in Jolly and Ball, but bringing in another coveted player will soak up a fair bit of the salary cap just as our young stars will be looking for more dough in the next two years.

Rambo's job on Reiwoldt yesterday put the Tarrant trade on the back-burner a bit. Certainly would be telling Freo where to stick it if they want 8-10 year players like Dawes and Blight for a 30 year old Tarrant. Great player, but not a big defficiency for us.

There is 0 chance of us getting Clark, we simple do not have the picks to get it done and I doubt we would be willing to trade the likes of O'Brien for him which Brisbane will ask for.

Young ruck/kpp who was nearly AA last season are worth a lot, especially contracted ones.

So John Mac still isn't in the best 22?

Second rounder for him?

Doubt MM will part with him, been an injury hampered 2 years and the coaches have a lot of faith in him, and with our recent success of young guys I wouldn't dismiss the chance of him becoming a good player.

Looking elsewhere, a small forward (such as Vez) would probably be our first priority and possibly another strong ruckman, although Jolly is incredibly durable. Clark is not worth the price to us, however. We are looking pretty good and with young guys like Rounds, Sinclair and J Thomas yet to show us what they have we don't need to trade for much.

Edit: and as much as the fellas would love Taz, to come back, I don't see much room for him.

Clark has had one good year, he is still unproven and there is no chance we would even think of getting him.

Wouldn't mind Sherman though, a runner in the midfield would complement our inside players and he would be a logical replacement for Johnno.

Though I wouldn't give up our first pick, our second and a fringe player? Don't think it would be enough...

Maybe have a look at Veszpremi as he could come a little cheaper and could potentially be loaded with improvement.

Quiet trade week for Collingwood I dare say, we were involved heavily last year and it pay dividends, but I don't think we need to go selling our future to attain anyone this year. We have no pressing needs or holes to fill, I'd just let Buckley and Hine do their thing with an eye towards Buckley's impending take over.

We might look at a cheap top up player that we can turn around (ala Buckley and Brown), but there is next to no chance we'd go after another big fish like Clark. As nice as it would be, it just isn't realistic, nor is it required.
To get Clark we'd need to offload someone like Sidebottom or Beams and there is nothing gained by doing that.

I personally wouldn't mind us having a look at Grigg, although I doubt he'd have the tenacity required to earn a spot in our best 22. Seems he just wants a free pass to AFL football at the moment, he'd be a good acquisition otherwise.

I agree with this

I just wanted to see what everyone thought he would be worth.

Just on Vez, rumor has it that attitude was/is a big problem with him and has been one of the main reasons why he has not been given a go.

Also on Tarrant, totally agree. I think that Collingwood are well placed for the future with Reid and N.Brown showing that they are going to form a huge partnership for the next decade.

Thats the catch. To us he is worth more than a second rounder. But I can't see anyone giving up more to lure him away from us - especially given his injury issues. He'd be a good pick up for Essendon but I doubt we'd willingly trade him.

With Vez's apparent offield problems it makes you wonder if we will go after him. I remember MM saying something along the lines of 'if Roos and Kirky can't do anything for him then we don't want him' in regards to recruiting Barry Hall and his behavior. Doubt we'll pick up a troubled Vez if this is the case. Mind you, it's not like he is going around KOing people and if someone is to redevelop a young man's attitude it would be MM.

Doubt it, WCE fans seem to think he is the next Chris Judd which means he must have star potential and I don't see why a rebuilding team like West Coast would move him.

Wrong. The moment you start abandoning the draft to concentrate on mature recruits is the moment you set yourself up for failure. The draft is the reason we are in the position we are, and if we abandon it then all it takes is a few significant injuries to stunt the development of some of our younger players (see Hawthorn from 2008 to now) to put us back a long way.

Having said that, I would probably make an exception for Clark. But the picks we do have won't get it done, it would take our first and a player from our premiership side (not any of the older fringe players or hacks) to get him. Plus he is going to WA apparently.

If we make a trade it should be us trading one of our players for more picks, unless there is a young player of quality in an area of genuine need that becomes available.
