Definitely, but this is where Carlton needs improvement. When we lose these guys for significant periods, we need the quality of player (and strength of coaching) to have guys come in and replace them with minimal detriment to team performance. The good news is we are working on it!

Agreed. if we rely on having 22 solid contributors on our list, we will be exposed the minute one of these 22 goes down for a period of time. We need to shape our list to be confident that any player coming into the side performs their role and sticks to the game plan. Geelong and Hawthorn have forged strong VFL outfits in recent years, and it would be great to see the NB side push up the VFL ladder and have its players commanding senior call-ups.

It actually does ...NB's were hardly competitive for our seniors to be healthy then our reserves need attention cleaning out players who did not even make vfa grade is a start in the right direction.

Hawthorn became better when they lost Buddy - because every player breathed a sigh of relief knowing they weren't having to pay for ONE bloke who is special. Geelong were stronger after they 'lost' G.Ablett...ho many more examples o we need..

or how about my view from day one on C .Judd - his PAY was POISON and set a bad precedent and expectations for any other half decent players to expect and demand- we are paying massive overs for a number of players still on list - massive. When an organisation does this - it is saying - YOU lot are role plyers and cannon fodder- These are the real players and these are the blokes we really love.

Well I got news for you - it take 30 good players to be competitive - NOT 4.

Just rank amateur hour at Carlton and totally at odds with a team first culture. new Coach and SOS - will NOT be making same mistakes again.

Last year saw a lot of players running out each week - carrying injuries and then unavailable

Thomas out all year, Warnock out most of year, Graham/Gibbs/Docherty/Menzel playing not 100% , Kreuzer coming back from injury, Sheehan/Byrne out all year ( a real loss) White out...team had no continuity of personnel and had to go through the whole Malthouse saga as well as put up with Henderson/Yarran noise, Rowe and Jamison were definitely carrying injuries/soreness into games as was Carrazzo.

Serious question marks over fitness of whole squad ( Buttifant?)

Just having more players available for selection along with trades means losses will be less embarrassing - if nothing else. I don't think there is much between Carlton/Melbourne/EssenDONE/Brisbane/Saints - so 13th - last in 2016 is anyone's guess.

What the Club is looking for is developing a deeper list and developing playing a style of football that is competitive - I wouldn't' be surprised with finishing close to finals or towards bottom - it all depends. What I am looking forward to is a fit 22 players on the field each week - and a clear view of what the Club will be looking to do with certain players and certain holes in list. However I doubt we will get 4 picks in first round again. The Club just doesn't have the trading currency - maybe Gibbs certainly not Thomas would pull a first rounder.

The new coach will have to rely on developing what we have - more than magic bullets from trades/drafts.

Yeah I don't think we can write off 2016 fellas,yes it's going to be tough but no doubt we'll hopefully be taking many positives from& there is going to be so much to be looking forward to think the new boys coming on board that will be part of our exciting future.

I know it's tough for some but highly recommend getting down to the NBs next season. Gonna be chokfull of exciting talent. Plus Jones. For the country and interstaters, maybe synchronize an AFL game with a VFL.

12 months is a long time in the development of a junior footballer. Weitering wasn't tipped as a top 10 this time last year. No1 draft pick is rarely sufficiently better than others in the top ten to warrant coming last.

Let's get this straight. I have never and will never be supporting any team or strategy that involves tanking. All that my thoughts were was that I would love to get this guy. I believe from watching all the games, that this player would be an incredible player for the Navy Blues. So incredible that he would slide into our side in his first year.
Anyway, sorry to have upset so many.

Agree about getting some sort of game plan that's attacking and enjoyable to watch. If we go into our shells it won't be a great spectical and doubt it will attract players to come to us in the next player exchange period.

Can't even get excited about our future prospects let alone our 2016 prospects. Cripps, Docherty, Graham, Buckley and supposedly Weitering - outside those guys I simply see a list of guys carrying the same hope as Watson/Lucas etc did with every chance to follow suit.

This draft doesn't project as the strong draft we would have needed at a minimum.

I've always been delusional in my optimism but just can't see it anymore. Perhaps if that helps take a step back from afl for a while there's the silver lining.
