Lets not write off 2016

Can't wait to see how creative we get with these draft picks.

SOS seems to think outside the square a bit and matches players with roles, rather than positions. The jury is still out on Plowman but it was a brave move taking him at three, Pickett and Ahern didn't loom as early selections but he saw something others didn't, Rory Lobb at 28, James Stewart at 36.

He's keen on attacking, versatile players with good skills. The modern game demands a free-flowing, attacking style of play and we've just invested in 3 of these.
At GWS he had so many picks he could take some risks and not worry if a few didn't work out. We need to nail every pick

I wouldn't mind getting another pacy player with X-factor with pick 12. A Millera/Ah Chee/Rioli type.

Hawthorn show that you can't have enough X-factor and players who play unique, creative roles.

Absolutely! Every pick must be a winner or be a positive. We can't afford to **** it up again!

Since our last bottoming out we burnt WAY too many picks and only managed a SF in 2011 (forget about 2013 we were already on our way down). We now need to continue the upward curve and make sure every pick helps us get there - whether ND, PSD or rookie draft

pick 11... I think will be going to a KPF if there is one about.

I think that we are going to look at a pacy mid with pick 8, a KPF with pick 11 and someone like Gresham or Rioli if they are still around at 19.

Unfortunately for the rebuild (draft wise) I think we'll finish between 6 and 10. You watch these boys run and attack under Bolton. Watch our intensity levels go through the roof now that we got rid of blokes who don't give a shit. Watch how we unearth surprise packet after surprise packet. Just watch...

We're going to do well during those periods when we have our best team on the park or close to it as we did this year. We're also going to cop a few smackings. We're going to finish bottom four unless we have a freak run with injuries, then we're going to smash the hell out of the draft and trade period! Can't set false/unrealistic expectations, that's how to make fans and players disgruntled. We all know we're building to something special in 3-5 years time. Common goal to achieve something great. Sit back, enjoy the new young talent coming in and be patient and don't care too much about the results. The best thing about us is we're eventually going to start climbing up, we're a massive unknown, we aren't rated so any good efforts are a tick. Long way to go, right path though.

Meh, honestly it can't get much worse.....can it??
At least we're not playing 2 or 3 short every week

Yes it can ... we won 4 games this year and I hope I am wrong ... but I wouldn't be placing any of my hard earned folding stuff to equal or better this mark in 2016. Chances are despite all of the new players on our list, we will struggle to beat anyone apart from Melb. and Brisbane or possibly the Saints.

That's is not to say the playing group as a whole or individual players can't make significant personal improvements or achieve certain set goals or KPI's over the season.

Reckon we'll get one upset in 2016 (knocking off an unsuspecting North, Richmond or maybe Port) - but other than that I think we'll be 50/50 propositions against the other rebuilding teams.

If we can pump 15-20 games into half a dozen quality kids, while banking 3-4 wins along the way, I'll be more than happy.

Failure would be giving games to White, Armfield, Wood etc. unless they're absolutely required (through injury).

There are so many more variables though.

Melbourne and Brisbane will improve, as will St Kilda.

Essendon have a pretty average team and might finish bottom four, the Suns were poor this year and I'm tipping North to slide.

Injuries and confidence do a lot to a team and if we can maintain some intensity we will knock a few teams off. We have enough A-Graders around the ball to be competitive.

Defensive options with Weitering/Plowman now step up in class - plenty of run coming in Byrne/Sheehan/Buckley for the rebound - lose Yarran , gain some different team based running patterns - the one out saviour trick doesn't work if your mids are all over the place and not ever where they should be...Midfield with all fit is more than serviceable Kruezer/Cripps/Murphy/Gibbs/Thomas - provide plenty of experience and talent for noobies to feed off and learn - Graham/Kerridge/Curnow/Simpson offer some decent back-up - with some potential in Walsh/Holman/Whiley and who knows out of draft - its up to them to delvier.
Up front is the question - Boekhurst/Lamb/Sumner should provide better each way running potential and greater spread to stop the rebound, Walker/Everitt/Casboult will have to earn every goal - at least they won't have to look to who let the easy ball out. Jacksh may start to deliver.

Maybe there is an unexpected win coming from 8/11 or 19 - would handy to unearth another goal kicker.

Looking forward to the grind - and we will surprise on the upside - no doubt.

Not yet. We need "foundation" type players. Real footballers that run all day and go in hard and give 110%. Whilst I agree wholeheartedly that every team needs X-factor-type players, I believe that we aren't at the stage where we require them. Clubs such as Richmond and North DESPERATELY need them. Clubs such as us, at Year Zero, don't require them. Yet.

I wouldnt write off 2016 and heres why...

*The players we have traded/delisted/retired. Gave us nothing, with the exception of Judd/Bell.
*Thomas missed the whole season. Gibbs, Kruezer large chunks of it.
* New coach, new approach
* We should attract genuine quality at 1,8,11,19 with a real youthfull exuberance

All we need to do now is get rid of Tutt and Jones (the beast) I am predicting 12 - 16 if we get rid of those 2 then we finish between 7 and 13.

We will finish bottom 2. Just looking forward to seeing some of the young kids play as well as these GWS kids. Look forward to see what Sumner can do if he stay uninjured.

We have nothing to lose. We are universally seen as the weakest team in the competition.

The way we played against Port Adelaide proves that although we might be light on for talent, if the attitude is there, the results will come.
Maybe with our 2015 list. Our 2016 list will be a very different beast indeed...
