Lets not write off 2016

Toned it down to the point he injured his shoulder......or did he? :)

I like the way he moves and he clearly has some smarts about him.
Don't usually care for F/S's but this one I really want. He has just something about him that will add beyond just his on-field attributes.
Good bloodlines, good mover, good size... plenty to work with.

We are bottom 4 no doubt.

But that's ok if we are attacking the draft which we are.

Anyone talking up Daisy please don't the decision to recruit him has been a disaster he hasn't had an injury free year for about 5 years and his best is way past him.

Hopefully if the kids come on he will struggle to get a game that's when we know we are making progress

Would love to see some reports one way or another as to how Daisy has been spending his rehab time.
Has he been on the track and in the gym strengthening the ankle and rebuilding the tank, or has he been
living the highlife, surfing the globe and doing the celeb scene (races etc)?

Would love to see him return to training with the kids and show some intent, rather than waiting for the senior boys'
mandatory return.

Have not given up on Thomas like so many on here seem to have done, huge role to play.

Sorry you lost me he didn't play last year cause he was injured but the reason he didn't play had nothing to do with his body?

Clearly the reason he didn't play was because of his body. Im not blaming him but when you have missed 4 seasons straight like he has im just saying his best is now behind him and not to expect much from him

You're missing the point. Thomas didn't miss the season because of an ongoing issue. It was an impact injury that largely put him down for the year.

That could happen to anyone and can't be put down to 'a body issue'

Pardon the intrusion.

I'm not here to troll at all, just to offer up my experience with where you're at.

Tigers were in a very similar position to you guys going into 2010, new coach coming from Hawks, a mass exodus of experience, and an incredibly young list seemingly full of holes.

And in the first 9 weeks, we got hammered from pillar to post, and couldn't get close to winning a game.

But eventually, at some point, the boys got sick of losing, and sick of being called worse than Fitzroy, and started really digging in. We pushed the Hawks in Round 8 that year, and then finally in Round 10, we broke through and had a win against Port, and that breakthrough win really set the standard for the remainder of 2010.

We ended up basically splitting the season from that point (won 5 lost 7) and discovered a few gems in Riewoldt and Martin.

To be honest, your list as it stands is probably in a worse position than what we were in 2010, at least on paper, so it's gonna be a really hard first couple of months for you guys in 2016. But having an ultra-positive coach like Bolton will help, and as long as you are willing to put in the hard yards, you'll be back sooner than probably some people expect.

Just gotta make sure you absolutely nail these 4 picks in the Top 20 this year.

No Intrusion we welcome smart articulate posters here. We understand that you have to get away from your board to speak to like minded individuals every now and then. Thanks for the feedback. All relevant.

Harks you can talk till your blue in the face about this and they still wont be listening. I think barring injury that thomas will be in our top 5 next year.

Lets be serious thats not exactly hard is it..Outside of Gibbs, Murph & Cripps who else is going to take up the other 2 spots in our top 5?

I reckon any of Touhy, Kreuzer, Kerridge, Plowman, Graham and Docherty etc could surprise and be right up there.

There's this older guy that still does O.K. and will likely thrive with the extra responsibility.....Simpson.

Curnow will also have extra to do and as we know, he doesn't leave anything behind.

How good would it be if we managed to nab the Curnow of the Charlie variety and have both Curnow boys running around the ground like a boss.

Did his shoulder in the opening minutes of the Richmond season opener.
Still not thrilled about him being at the club, but looking forward to seeing how he goes next year.

I think we'd all prefer the whole Daisy thing went down... differently.

But we have him, he can play when he's fit, just gotta hope he has a decent run at it. That shoulder injury was incredibly unlucky.

I think the effort will be better in 2016 than it was for most of last season so that alone will see us improve slightly I believe.

Injuries are the key with any side, have a mostly clean run and we'll be competitive, have a year like this one just past and it'll be likely same same as 15.

Midfield will improve, defence will improve, forward line a big issue but if KJ can come on it'll help cas out, between Everett, walker, lamb, sumner there are some third and crumbling options we just need to see what it will look like and how it will function under Bolton to make a better judgement....on paper there are no stars down there but the dogs had no stars this time last year apart from an untried Boyd and look how that panned out.

You never know, attitude plays a massive part in football and so does game style and those are two things that will change for the better i believe in 16. A centre line of Cripps, murphy Gibbs and kreuzer is a good starting point and we have added some depth this trade period and with the improvement in graham, boeky, Holman etc will start to gel better.

I don't think we will be anywhere near the top 8 but I believe we are in a not far worse position to the following sides;

Essendon
Saints
Lions
Suns
Dees

The bottom 6 will be made up of these sides including us and it'll be depending on form and injuries during the year on how it plays out

Why? Simmo's career is just about done. It's pointless

Would be too hard and disruptive to make any changes now, other than for the make-up of the leadership group.

Heard on SEN yesterday just how instructive and hard Riewoldt can be on his playing group at training and outside of training...........Murphy doesn't seem to get involved anywhere near enough and to my observation has often trained away from his own group.

Not his fault he was made captain and again, there did seem to be something fishy about that appointment.............history, I guess.

It will be interesting to see if Cripps is in the leadership group. He was the one the side really fell in behind in our better performances this year.

With Judds output dropping in recent years Murphy has copped a hard tag from talentless hacks like Crowley and McAffer who through greater size are able to curb his run at the ball. Cripps stepped up this year and showed the way and Murphy was able to return to the roll he played beside a dominant Judd.

People underestimate how much impact one player can have on a group. Cripps is the cornerstone of our rebuild. Captain in 2018.

next year is all development. both with players and a new style of football under bolton. our list will be greatly improved but it is raw. i can see us winning 5-6 games if we don't have a lot of injuries. if we lose some key players we will really struggle like we did this season. its okay as long as we can see a future.

People think we will be worse for losing henderson yarran menzel ? LOL they Had given up playing the game as they could at their best Putting anything in their place that gives 100 % 100 % of the time is an improvement.

It will be the most exciting year for a while. We are no longer in limbo, being a team wanting to be top 4 but never good enough and not recognising our ineptness early enough to start this rebuild. We can goto the footy and see youngsters get a go, see if crippsy goes another level, and if he does that will be worth the price of admission itself.

It's all about expectation management really, all of us learning to be patient and appreciating the development process and not just the final score

I noticed Reaper comparing Carlton to Richmond of 2010. I'd rather compare Carlton to the WBs of 2013-14. What we saw with the WBs was a new coach coming in and reinvigorating the careers of the experienced players. I'd say this was at least, if not more important, than the performances of their youngsters.

If the following senior players could get back to something like their best
Murphy, Jammo, Daisy, Kreuzer, Walker, Gibbs

... and then the next wave really started to come through
Cripps, Docherty, Buckley, Graham, Boekhorst, Levi, Jaksch, Holman, Byrne, Sheehan, Walsh

... added to the recent consistency of
Simpson, Tuohy, Curnow

That's the nucleus of a pretty good side. Top this up with the exciting youngsters
Weitering, Ploughman, Kerridge, DVR, SOSOS (in a couple of years)

Then, surround this team with the off-field support they need
Game Plan, Development and Fitness/Medical

Who knows how quick the Blues can rebound? A good showing next year would set them up to be very competitive in 2-3 years.

Wherever we finish, for too long Carlton has been a side oppositions don't sweat over. I want us to be the side nobody wants to play. Take the physical mauling of Port Adelaide this year and apply it across 2016. That's how Hawthorn started as well.
