Let's start a new league to revive REAL footy!!!!

Had a brilliant idea on Sunday (after a few ales, mind you!).

For supporters of the following clubs: Fitzroy, North Melbourne, Footscray, South Melbourne, why not start a new league to keep these names going around?!!!

It'd be like paddock football. Whoever turns up gets a guernsey!!!! You could either nominate to play for a side, or be chosen by respective captain/coaches! (Just like school footy!). I'm loving it already!

We'll have a full season, and a finals series. As well as all the other awards.

We could also give the mugs at Collingwood a go. They're only harmless knuckle-heads you know!

I've got it all planned. We'll play at all the old grounds. Vic Park, Lakeside Oval, Junction Oval, Arden St., Moorabin etc. etc. (Might have to give St.Kilda an honourary entry, just to use their ground, besides, the name mightn't be 'round much longer anyway, then they'd be able to join officially!).

We'll find some old warehouse full of old jumper from the 70's and 80's. I bags Richy Osborne's #44!! (I'd be playing for the Roys of course!).

Also, on the train out to Williamstown, out past the North Melbourne station, I noticed these abandoned "Four 'n' Twenty" pie wagons. We'll get someone to go in there of a night and steal one - just so we can look authentic by selling pies at half time. Although, these pies will be for the players, not spectators!

If the AFL won't stand up for footy culture, than the supporters will have to do it!

It did strike me the other day that we could develop some real clout on this website - 'Phony posts' aside we are now HUGE.

We just need to use it for good rather than evil

Hmmm. You Vics (some of youse anyway)...when will you give up. Perhaps its easier here in SA to let go of the past, when you followed the Double Blues all your childhood and wanted them in the AFL. I can still see Sturt along with a couple of thousand others and its great old fashioned on the mound stuff, but the Crows at Footy Park...that's top level footy.

There's a place for both ... have your Old Time league and enjoy the beer...but it's just as real as the big time, not more so!

And can everyone go out on the ground for the quarter time talks, Ive been wanting to do that for years, I would also like to talk to the umpires at the same time, can we park our cars up to the fence and blow our horns too.

Daphne, you won't have to worry about ticket queues. It'll just be like old times - just turn up!

Supporters running on the ground will be acceptable (at any time of the game!).

Yep, you can blow your horns at every justifiable opportunity. As long as the car is of an 80's or earlier model!
