With the competition being so level now , which is off course what the plan is I for one would propose a change.
We all agree the game is a lot quicker now than the old days but our umpiring is very inconsistent and let's face it at times appears blatantly biased!
One field umpire , 6 boundary and a video review system
Refer all free kicks forward 50
Refer all frees by boundary officials.
All grounds have the facilities , would add suspense and accuracy

Thoughts?

Refer free kicks? Are you mad?

What about all the frees not paid. Should we just stop each passage of play into the fwd lines and check everything?

Each team has 3 referrals per quarter. Play must stand on one leg and touch nose to challenge the umpires decision which is then taken upstairs for ball tracking etc. If the challenge fails, that player can only hop on one leg for the rest of the quarter. If the challenge is successful, the umpire is sent off and it's a free for all for the rest of the quarter. Gatorade shall also be substituted with beer and each player must smoke at least one durry during the breaks.

Aren’t you just copying the rules from AFLX?

With respect to the OP: no.
Umpiring mistakes are part of every sport. Overscrutinisation has resulted from TV footage being discussed endlessly. What’s really needed is a simplification of the rules and a public information campaign to get people to understand that, imperfect an art form though it may be, umpiring is necessary for the game and we all need to accept that our team is going to get a few bum calls in every loss, even the close ones.

If you actually knew what the word farce meant you'd realise what your proposing is closer to farce than what we have now.
Hey maybe
But at least we would have some idea what's going on
Sort out the bias and make em accountable

Sweet, that means more revenue from advertising and broadcasting, right?

As a high grade basketball umpire
You decide on the factor of advantage/ disadvantage
Ie if advantages 1 and disadvantages the other you blow it
Sick of the sentance outweighing the offence
Duck your head , easy goal
Maybe 80% are caused by the milker
Possibly as many as 20 games per year decided by this shit
It was better with 1

Well cheers for the input
Seeing the whole things an event and not a competition
Your post/idea fits

I think we also allow team captains to stop the game and have time outs.

No, I dont work for Ch 7 and the increased ad revenue isnt on my mind.
