Ok, so we've secured a finals berth after defeating Geelong.

It seems more than likely we'll be playing St Kilda in the 1st week with the location yet to be confirmed. I think the only way this can change is if we were to lose to Brisbane next week and the Bombers have a significant win over Port this week. (In which case we would slip to 8th and behind Essendon on % which would see us play Carlton)

Quietly confident the Blues will do a job on the Saints next week whilst we beat the Lions to give us the home final in the 1st week against the Saints.

So, based on the likely outcome the 1st week should line up as follows

Collingwood (1) v West Coast (4)
Geelong (2) v Hawthorn (3)
Carlton (5) v Essendon (8)
Sydney (6) v St Kilda (7)

Looking beyond that, should we get past St Kilda we would play the loser of Geelong v Hawthorn and beyond that is the winner of Collingwood v West Coast.

Disappointed we more than likely won't get the chance to play the Eagles, was hoping we would of had the opportunity to face them in the 2nd week, should we make it past the 1st week.

This is the best week of our season. We have finally beaten a quality team away from home under the pump.

I say we will beat St.Kilda in the elimination final and face geelong again :D at the MCG where they will have it even worse.

I hope we get the Saints at home and get the Sydney cooks on notice. :p

very good! hard to know where the true form of each team presently lies. looks like we will probably play you at home, unless we continue to build against the blues who are no longer playing for anything except no injuries. Does that mean ANZ? Or if our home game is it Docklands rather than the G?

I would imagine the next one will be rather tighter.

Reckon it'll be Hawthorn second week, we really need to snap our MCG drought, and since we've just broken one drought, time's right.

But Bedders is right, one week at a time, we can't rely on beating Saints.

I think NRL finals start same week as AFL this year would this make a difference as to where we play. I am sure the league has first dibs at ANZ.

Wests Tigers are the only team in the 8 that would play their first week finals match at ANZ. They're currently 6th and would need results to run their way to get to 4th which would get them a home final. Even then, the NRL and the AFL would have to schedule the match on the same day for a clash to occur.

Does anyone know how much revenue we're getting from hosting these finals at ANZ? Surely the club wouldn't have signed the deal if we weren't benefiting greatly from it.

I think West Coast will make the Grand Final and I don't think it's unreasonable to believe that we will play off against Collingwood for the other spot.

West Coast to make the GF? I wouldnt be surprised if they went out in straight sets.

I'd rather see Collingwood win another premiership than see Carlton or West Coast win another one....

This.

I'm going back home to WA in a week, where my dad and nanna will be waiting to remind me the Eagles are in the top 4. You can't be a non-Eagles supporter in this state and possibly want them to succeed.

I think Geelong will bounce back.
Mitigating factors were there - no Corey, the bye, possibly less to play for - and we caught them (smashed them) on the hop.

This will be for the Cats what Richmond was for us - a big wake-up call.

More importantly - our boys will have massive self-belief. We can match it with most of the big boys - not always with flashy "look at me" highlight plays - but with smashing tackling, breaking packs apart and never, ever giving up. Swans pressure can beat anyone - if we bring it for 4 quarters.

St Kilda in Sydney round 1 - fabulous (assuming razor ray the showpony doesn't try to add to his highlights reel).

Similarly, you can't be a non-Pies supporter in Vic. and possibly want them to succeed. If we cant win it, let the Eagles, Blues, Bombers, Cats, Hawks or Saints win it, anyone but the Pies.

^^ I think I'd still prefer another Collingwood premiership over a Carlton one.

My preferences in order:

Sydney
West Coast
Geelong
Hawthorn
Having my testicles dragged across 200 kilometres of barbed wire, glass and salt.
Collingwood
Essendon
St Kilda
Carlton
