He was one of the favoured candidates to be the original AFL Chairman in 93. He didnt want the job then.

In hindsight, he would have been a lot more use steering the navy ship though we have been well looked after. I suppose he would need to re enter the corporate world to accept the glory of unpaid presidency.

Dear Carlton board members,

Please resign from your positions with immediate effect so we can replace you with people who have the club's best interest at heart and who will attempt to steer the club in the right direction and attempt to undo the damage you have caused, and continue to cause.

This once great club will continue on it's rapid downward spiral until you are replaced by operators who are able to work in unison with one another to achieve a common goal, something which you have shown yourselves incapable of doing.

This club means too much to too many people to continue being the play toy of a select few who have very little idea what they are doing.

If you love the club as much as so many supporters who are bleeding watching this once great club die a slow and painful death, you will fall on your swords before the damage you have caused, and continue to cause, is irreparable - if it is not at that poing already.

Regards,

The 'plebs' you no doubt look down upon.

Can't believe I haven't seen this thread before.

Your words are spot on J, but you forgot one thing - the majority of them have sacked 3 coaches in 8 years.

They've made the coaches accountable for not getting it right - when is it their turn?

This post is spot on. In fact it got me thinking about the AFL's 'assistance' in helping us recruit a new coach.
What good is a new coach if they don't have the support of the Board?

This is a pointless exercise made to look like we are trying to address our internal issues, but it's really just another public display to calm the masses.
Why don't the AFL REALLY help us out and look at our board & administration?

A new coach won't do squat in our current toxic environment.

You want the AFL to appoint our board, admin and coach? We really are stuffed if it comes to that.

Our club has pretty much had the same Board for years and look how well they're traveling. Incapable of doing the right thing.

It's the Matheson's vs the Pratt's. Both parties self serving ways, interfering with what's best for the club moving forward.

I'd love Mike Fitzpatrick to be our President - it would be the smartest move we have made in a long time.

We have had the same board because no-one else has asked to join. The members get to chose who stays and who goes at the AGM. I think Fitzpatrick would be welcomed with open arms if he wanted to help run the club, that's up to the man himself.

Yes fair play, though if we can't run our own club it's no good asking the AFL to do it for us.
I don't want the AFL to step in and nurse us. I just hope that at some point (soon) we construct a board full of people with a sincere interest in putting a structure in place to build on, taking into account today's football environment and not quick fixes and fast cash injections.
Similar to what happened at Geelong around 10 years ago.

Yes and hopefully we get some passionate and talented people applying to join the board so the members get a chance to vote if their skills are needed. I don't agree a board spill is needed, it smacks of the useless quick fix we dislike the club itself doing. Patience, planning and encouragement of skill sets that would be of use in the boardroom is more what I'd prefer to see.
