Toast Levi Casboult

Casboult is a perfect example of why Carlton is and has been a mediocre team for so many years. We recruited another player who cannot kick. How does a player get through years of junior footy the so called rigorous Under 18 system with such an appalling kicking style? How do recruiters ignore his kicking? We have Kreuzer to come back and we cannot carry three big men. None of these players have succeeded in the forward line despite many attempts. Before everyone goes on about Casboult's marking what is his biggest return of goals? We have to make a hard call at some stage with this list and hanging onto players who after 4 years still cannot kick, and is at best an average player.
I agree...we should have taken someone of his size and marking ability, plus a perfect kicking action in the rookie draft. And maybe in blonde.

Moody, you really need to go and get laid mate.

Why can't we carry three?

Hope we see a fit Kreuzer in the second ruck/forward role with Henderson and Casboult forward. Would love to see Levi playing closer to goal where he can clunk them within his range. Haven't seen too many big KPP who chase as hard as Casboult.

Casboult is a very handy player that plenty of clubs that would like right now.

Given he's more than handy in the ruck gives him an edge over many.
Would love to see Levi become proficient with his hands. That may just be the missing link in his armoury. He'll never be a great kick. So what?

He seems to be really coming of age and very important all over the ground.

And he is monstrous from the chest upwards.
No argument there mate. Fingers crossed that he delivers on that immense promise displayed on Friday night.

But I saw the likes of Brad Fisher, Simon Wiggins and Setanta have breakout games and purple patches but in the end did not get there.

Not going to let the Levi lid off just yet.

Levi has become a very good trainer and stronger runner in the past 12 months.

He and Bell have put in a mountain of work. That's why I respect them.

Levi Casboult - 12 disposals, 5 marks, 4 goals straight

Who'd you rather? Tyrone Vickery?

Compare Casboult's 2014 vs his previous 2 years and his stats show he has improved remarkably. His strength overhead, his tank around the ground, his ability to hold his own in the ruck.

His kicking if its on the improve means he's going to be very very good.

How about we just trade Warnock instead and have the Kruezer/Cas combo going at it hammer and tongs?

Then we can grab a El Cheapo ruck man.
We've tried to offload Warnock before. Maybe with his improved form this year it might be different.

But Mick has said he wants Robbie as number 1 ruck and Kreuz more as the ruck forward. So I don't think mick wants to offload him.

Mick is just repeating Ratten's mistakes if he tries that.

It will be as successful as playing Hampson up for......well playing Hampson anywhere really.

I still think Bell can make it as well surprisingly.

He had a belated start to football but he has plenty to work with if we can develop him properly.

Kreuz has lost that mobility he had in his early days. Personally I think he has put on too much size since his knee. If he still had that mobility then it would work as a part time forward.

But you never know. Mick said this before Levi found form. He said it after round 2 and I don't think Levi was even playing in the 1s yet. Might have had a change in heart.

And if someone offers overs for Robbie we might just part with him. Problem is though Robbie's current contract apparently puts a lot of teams off.

Indeed and MM has paid tribute to both for this. Admirable stuff it is.

Was interesting that he went on to say that Levi needed to play as much as he could so that he could feel he belonged. Obviously building up his confidence as the year progresses and you could see it was sky high on Friday night. Love that Mick is backing him in. But seen with the likes of Garlett how you can play AA footy for a half season and then lose form and confidence (chicken and egg there I know) to such an extent that your whole career starts disappearing down the gurgler. Just hope Levi gets enough self belief to keep his head up through thick and thin.

Yep, he was a beast on Friday night and has been building/working to that over the course of the season. If his kicking stays at least as reliable as Cloke's then we have a power forward of real potency.
