Lets be real, Levi wouldn't be in the category of guys atm DEMANDING more money than 325k per year...

He knows he owes a lot to Carlton for sticking with him and developing him. He owes us his career.
325k is an obscene amount of money for a 23-24 year old (forgot how old he is). Most ppl that age earn what? 50k a year? Not even that.

He hasn't grown up all his life as this super talented, entitled youngster. He has had to do it the hard way which is great and there is no way he would demand more than 325k. That is generous enough as he has only just started playing regularly and still has lots to learn.

Maybe in 2 years time we will be talking 500k a year in his next contract if he keeps improving.
Wow, you really have no idea what players get paid...

KPP's earn more then mids and FP's.

What do you think Jessie White is on?

White is reputedly on $350k, which sets a market for Levi.
When poaching from another club you inevitably have to pay an inflated rate, never mind that Thomas and Betts are walk up starts for every team in the league, whereas Casboult is a fringe player in a mediocre side.
As a club we have a history of overpaying players, we need to improve on this in order to build a premiership calibre side.

I'm not sure if you've noticed but Levi has been our best and most consistent tall forward this season.

With Waite unlikely to go on next year I can't see how he would be classified as a fringe player.

An injured Hendo has still outperformed him.
People are getting carried away following last weekends game where he kicked half of his seasons goal tally playing against a couple of hbfs, he'll have to put in a few more efforts to justify the hype that he's beginning to receive.
It was only a few weeks ago that people were calling for him to be dropped.

An injured Hendo has been rubbish in virtually every game this year. Just because Casboult hasn't kicked many goals doesn't mean he hasn't been doing a power of work to help the team.

Hendo has been a match winner for us, Levi not so much.
There were a few games where he was dropping chest marks etc and copping the Bronx cheers etc.
He's in good form now, hopefully he continues on with it from here, if so, then discussing paying him big money becomes relevant.

Levi faces reality this week; 'You're only as good as your last game'. Keep him away from the newspaper interviews after today's effort.

didnt have a good game but i dont think any forward would with the delivery coming into the fwd line. disposal over the whole ground was shocking and not upto afl standard.

Having a blinder one week and then going nearly to the other end of the spectrum the next is the main reason I don't believe we should be offering Casboult the world contract-wise just yet.

There is certainly a school of thought who believe his best is yet to come but he does have to give us constant small steps of improvement instead this rollercoaster of form.

I'm sorry Sharky, but that really isn't a ringing endorsement. He has definitely improved but he has to hit the highs he did against Hawthorn a lot more often or he is still an AFL fringe player even if he is a walk up start for a poor team.

Levi is Carlton personified - went missing after receiving minimal plaudits & media attention.

It's just so frigging painful.

True story: I won a trophy in junior footy once; "most consistent" it said.

I love that trophy more and more each day as I come to realise just how hard it obviously is to back it up week after week.

At least it wasn't the encouragement award, you don't want that
