Should Casboult be a target?

  • No way

  • Not unless he’s basically free

  • Yes, for cheap

  • Definitely should make a strong play

Am I alone I’m not hating it?

I think I said this last year when his name came up.

Would allow Hawkins to play CHF.

*ducks*
If he could kick reasonably accurately and do more than clunk the occasional mark I'd be with you.

Doesn’t Ratugolea allow Hawkins to play CHF though? That’s a very tall forward line if you include Casboult too.
Can't fit all of Ratugolea, Casboult, and Hawkins in the forward line. Ratugolea has to go.

Imagine Rohan gets it out to Gaff who kicks it to Dauhlus, who gives it to Casboult who threads it through the sticks. Sounds great.

You be the judge.
He doesn't get the ball, he doesn't get hitouts, he doesn't kick goals, and he doesn't provide goal assists.
Are we all forgetting we'll have the Big Sav back next year. We don't need another hack/list clogger.

This. He's still very young and its unlikely he'll be playing consistently good footy until his 4th year. Casboult would be good back-up if the cost is minimal, but certainly not at the expense of Esava getting as much game time as he needs.

I'm not sure if Casboult is contracted, but what pick would get the trade done?
he apparently signed a two year deal last year but has been told to explore.

Where the **** is Gaff coming from, has already been confirmed he is going to North so not sure why he is mentioned in this thread.

Like Pods in his last season for us, a job I could really see Casboult doing, is being that big target down the line, up on the wings when we're struggling to get it out of defence. Just clunk one of this big contested marks and smash the pack doing it (hopefully with opponents in it and not team mates).

I've always liked Casboult. Really has a crack.
You know he'll always lead up at the ball.
Just being able to bring the ball to ground is sort of a win these days with your zone defences and spare men and all that stuff.
SavRat is coming back from a broken leg! And has also played like 7 games.
I think people are expecting him to do a bit too much next year.
Casboult could be handy.

I can handle bringing in 1 spud to be a backup but not as a best 22 player.

Rohan and Dahlhaus are surely enough mature agers.

People here carry on when we lose about us having a general lack of skills. Why would we want to bring someone in who can't kick for shit?

He's actually improved his kicking but I'd prefer Ratugloea up forward.

Coaching Staff need to determine our game style and assess our cattle first - if there's a gap and Casboult can fill it then fine - if not also fine.
We can't go picking up any Tom , Dick or Harry because they're available - let's put a list together that can play how we want to play :)

Casboult is an amazing mark, which is something we need down forward.

His value probably depends on how much his kicking has improved. I haven't watched Carlton for a while.

He has a fantastic leap and very sticky hands - rarely drops them once he gets his hands on the pill.

His conversion has varied a lot :
2014 15 goals @58% from 19 games
2015 24 goals @67% from 16 games
2016 18 goals @50% from 20 games
2017 34 goals @65% from 22 games
2018 12 goals @55% from 10 games

Looks like he's best in odd number years - 2019 could be good :p
