IF Walker isnt being used to plug holes in the midfield, and Gibbs isnt being used to plug holes in defence, then we must be in pretty good shape. Sure we dont have the biggest defensive unit - Jamo, Laidler and Hendo will fix that next year - but the mids and forwards are on fire.

Yeah, I like Walker best up forward, he just adds that extra dynamic in the air and on the ground. I've also been impressed with McInnes who I remember was described as a real "competitor" when he was drafted; hasn't that been the case! I reckon there could well be a spot for him among the trio you've mentioned.

Levi tends to miss shots to the left - I have noticed his kicking action sees an exaggerated right to left sweep of the kicking leg across his body. The best shot he has made was that running kick from boundary and 50 meter arc yesterday - where his natural right to left sweep actually helped him. I don't think this is unfixable for set shots. As for his marking and contested footie and competitive aggressive spirit - it has been there since he first came into the side. Levi should be proud of what he has achieved so far- the Coach certainly has emphasised his contribution now twice in the media. :thumbsu:

Levi has taken his opportunity and made it worth something. His confidence is only growing and he should be in our best 22 from now on. To me this is our best forward line:

Walker Casboult Armfield
Garlett Waite Betts

We have 2 strong tall targets, one of them is a massive unit, the other is athletically elite. We then have a very good medium forward also with incredible athletecism, we have a defensive forward who is very good at shooting for goal and then we have 2 very good smalls, Betts is actually elite imo, Garlett not quite that good yet.

Cas goes out to ruck when resting Kruze.

But he's really given us a new dynamic, get some goal kicking technique work done on him in the upcoming preseason and he could be on his way to pushing into the top forwards in the comp in a few more years.

Loved the big Levi yesterday... Just put in 100%... being at the game also allowed me to see his running behind the ball and he aint no slouch...

Not getting to overly excited tho, as he has to perform for more than 1 game and not against the backline that was essendons yesterday (i.e pathetic)...

Im hopin we get to play finals this year and then we get to see him against the cats or eagles backlines who are far more superior...

All in all tho, what more could you ask for a 22 yr old monster playing his 5th game of AFL footy... God knows what he could achieve with steady improvement and after 50+ games of AFL under his belt...

Let's hope he carries this form into the GC game next week. Could be a bag in the offing

Most adoreable aggressive big bustling forward ever? (no homo, NTTIAWWT)

Great signs from the bolt.

With 206 Mitchell and the emergence if the bolt Hampson is ideal trade bait

I agree.....he"s from QLD...they need a ruck, must be something we need...more upside with Levi

The most encouraging sign I have seen from Levi is something we have missed from our big forwards for a while (with the exception of a fit waite) is that he relishes the physicallity.

A few points yesterday that come to mind;
-countless contested marks
-two run down tackles on dempsey
-but most importantly the goal he kicked from the 50 metre penalty. He ragdolled a bomber to the ground stood up with contact coming, took the mark. Got the 50, put it in the top of the ponsford stand and then gave a bump to dempsey.

Don't get me wrong bravado wont win us flags, but this kind of presence on the field makes other players stand taller and stronger.
Came out of the news today (or yesterday) that the players, to a man, decided to play the ball and the man... hence the big hit by Gibbs on Short Stheppel one the quarter time siren.

That attitude will win us flags... moar of that please.

GC don't need a ruckman. They have Smith, Gorringe, Nicholls, Thompson, Hickey and Dixon who can all play ruck or second ruck/KPP.

Pathetic that some want to trade Hampson. Footy supporters are goldfish.

Potential?

Potential?

Output.

Hammer has played some really good games both as a forward and a ruck.

It's better to keep him then trade him short (he's coming off a PCL, he's not going to fetch what he should).

Yeh good point,

Just think Levi is a natural, he's quick ,can mark .. Goal kicking is okay, which will improve.

Just think going forward he will offer more than Hammer...

Yeh i know hammer was ok earlier in the year .. But yeh he has potential o_O

The value of Hampson will be seen when he floats forward with Casboult and hopefully Waite as the key talls. Hammer doesn't have the smarts to outpoint the gun full-backs of the comp but his size and athleticism will see him monster the third tall defender.

A forward line structured around Casboult and Waite will see both Hampson and Kreuzer flourish when they rest in the goal square.

That sounds about right...

And then there's Mitchell...... Lots of options

He just seemed to have agility, speed, positioning and footy nous. I know he'll have down days, but shows we have something to work with.

hampson is surplus,if a good deal comes move him on while he has currency.
watching levi the last 5 games has reminded me why being a footballer first is more important than being an athlete first.hampson has never played 5 games in a row with the same impact as levi
