He seems like the backline equivalent of Mihocek - a good honest footballer who never drops his head. I'd be happy for the dogs to ask about him

I've always liked Melican. Was keen on him a few years back prior to extending with the Swans.

We're in need of KP depth so I'd certainly be asking the question.
He's AFL level but injuries keep pushing him back whenever he gets a decent run of form.

I can't imagine he's looking at moving to be depth again. I can see Bulldogs or Port being a good fit for him but he's our next KPD

I would rather see Port being linked to Melican more than any of the players we have been linked to.

Cats bound

I wouldnt mind him as we have absolutely no key defender depth in the vfl but im not sure if he would make our best 22 immediately and for the sake of his own career he needs a club where he can be best 22. So i doubt he chooses us.

He's contracted for next year so hopefully we aren't giving him away for free, as always need depth and think he is serviceable without being a world beater (when playing well).

However for his sake he probably needs a move to get the best chance at playing, as suspect Gould has gone past him in the race to be next in line when Rampe hangs up the boots.

Will be interesting to see what happens if Gould requests a trade out though as I'm pretty sure he is uncontracted (unless I've missed an announcement)

When fit and had a consistent run at it, he is a decent KPD. Not the best on players who like to take marks on the lead but good on the more contested marking types. A bit injury prone and often takes a few games to get back into it. I hope we keep him as depth next year as he will be important if T.Mac goes down as we don't have another KPD ready next year.

Rather re-sign Gould though

Isn't he a free agent next year?

Yeah think he is a restricted FA next year, but if a club wants him for a first 22 backline spot can't imagine they will kick up too much of a fuss about a pick in the 40's for him this year.

He is a decent depth player at the Swans, cant imagine he wants to move clubs to be depth again.

Gould has re-signed for 1 year
Once this is confirmed I imagine the Swans will be more likely to let him go even cheaper.

I think the Saints could do with him, bigger body than anyone in our backline, him over Hartigan I would prefer.
