So Blues have told Young (along with Kennnedy) that he can go look elsewhere ... contracted until end of 2026

Acquired from Dogs for a 3rd rounder at the end of 2021 and now played 3 seasons with the Blues

What's the story Blues fans?

Who do you have waiting in the wings as key defensive back-up if he decides he wants out?

Or are u looking trade in a replacement? .... Haynes doesn't count given his age and size

Partial Salary Cap dump (along with Kennedy) to make SC room for Houston?

Couldn't imagine he'd be worth more than a 3rd or 4th rounder. Has the tools to be a good player but imo won't be if he's at the Blues.

Him and Weitering just don't gel on field for some reason. Theres many reports of a rumoured rift between Young and Weitering, something related to being too quiet/not communicating enough for Weiterings liking or something along the lines of that.

Kemp, Marchbank and Mcgovern aren't really any better than him defensively but they work far better in terms of cohesiveness when they're out there together with Weitering who obviously takes priority over Young when selecting a team.

As to who's replacing him? Absolutely no idea. Our board is trying to figure out that as we speak.

Pretty bang on actually.

Plus he's incredibly heart in mouth once he needs to dispose of the ball, especially under pressure.

I've always wanted him to succeed, but not sure if takes the next step or not.

The general feeling is the Blues are banking on trading in a KPP replacement, not sure how true it is though or whether they are long term. They hopefully have some sort of plan though because we're a bit barebones for KPD replacements in our up and comers. Can't really think of anyone actually.

And Sam Durdin who's widely tipped to get delisted too who's really our only other back up KPD. Apparently been told a decision will be made later on, tipping after trade period wraps up to see what we could secure first.

Maybe Vossy is playing 11D chess. Sniffed the breeze, saw the Hawks playing small ball with such success, figured out everyone else will be trying the same thing, and decided KPP defenders are no longer necessary. That's why he's the best.

Yeah, the only way it makes sense is if we’ve got someone else lined up. But even then, I would have thought we need to keep Young for depth.
