I hate the stoney rule, because it doesnt disadvantage the person who is in the wrong at all. If you left the comp for 12 weeks and had the stoney rule in place for every pick, you'd end up with a great side, perhaps better than if the person drafted every pick themselves.

True, but the stoney rule has already been used in this draft. You can't use it for one person and not the other. Because there is a precedent on this issue, we have to be consistent.

btw the stoney rule, doesn't allow them to structure their side how they want to, so they mightn't end up with a desired team structure, so it's not a perfect method - which is a good thing given they're the ones that screwed up the comp.
 
Nah, I'm sure he would have left his preferances with Skooks or something.

Lets just wait and see if he has them.

It's the biggest difference in last years output by position. Skooks explained it well in the other thread. It doesn't take into account what his current team structure is. So hypothetically he could end up with 5 rucks in his 20 if it was left to this rule.

I'm not sure of skooks' exact formula (it might be in the other thread), but one thing I'm fairly certain of is that it ignores the players currently on his list.

That's irrelevant if we stoney him.

I think skooks chose not to do it that way because

a) it gives him a perfectly structured side, when that shouldn't happen seeing as he's held up the draft.

b) it's too subjective.
 
This is completely ****ed. I dont know who allowed this stoney rule crap. But it's a load of rubbish. So why is this idiot in this league again? We are picking his side for him. Skooks, lift your game. You need to have a plan in place for crap like this. Not come up with some gay rule half way through the draft.

Which player is it Villa? I reckon we just make the pick for him now and move on with the draft.

There's no way around it now that he's implemented it though. He has to follow through with it. It's not the best rule, but he makes it heaps worse by not being consistent with it IMO.

And yes in all likelihood this rule means I will lose the player I was going to select , but there's a good chance he would have taken him anyway.

Just stoney him and move on with it I reckon.

Agreed, i'm going away in feb and if the draft isn't finished by then i already have a list of players that i'll send across to skooker.
 
agree, but the rule was implemented so we didn't have to wait 24 hours. That's the idea behind it, this aspect of it probably wasn't thought through well enough tho, but the rule was created with the right intentions (I know that's of little consolation to some of us now).

Like I've said before you can't justify changing it once it's been implemented already.

@ BP you could be right, I haven't done the sums or anything.

Well, with stoney, its the fact he's away for over a week. Dougie is away for 2 days. I think we shall just skip his pick. Anyway, there wont be many picks over the w/e anyway...
 
Fingers Crossed skooks comes on and sorts this one out. Its so close to my pick haha

I agree Macca however we knew stoney was away for over a week so something had to be done. He's team would be a wreck if he had to choose all of his squad in a week. Dougie is gone for 2 days in which I rekon 16-20 picks at most will get completed.
