Got a feeling we’ll have similar regrets with Schache. Trained all pre-season to have a crack at defence, plays maybe one game there then straight back to anonymous forward line performances, then VFL, then gone.

This will probably be the case to be honest.

I see Jones being thrown around next year in all sorts of positions, struggling to adapt. Defence, attack, ruck. Just hope we just give him the one position and he can focus on that. Fullback and that’s it.

You could say this about at least 5-6 players on our list.

The versatility mantra was kind of refreshing and worked well for us initially, but it has lost the plot since and we’ve lost players because of it.

2023 should be about stability, pre-season used for training in roles they will all have for the upcoming season and no more ******* about.

Daniel back into a midfield/high half forward role to deliver inside 50 to forwards that are told how and when to lead.
Hannan and Treloar to be put nowhere near the defensive line.
Weightman, West, McNeil etc taught to be crumbers and stop flying for marks.
McLean to be in the midfield as a run-with player.
If Schache stays, give him one role and that’s it - forward or back. Not personally sold on him as a long term defender, we may have a lot of talls with another incoming but he’s the best one we have that can work higher up the ground.
If JJ stays, give him one role as well! Maybe in the same position he won a norm smith in, he wouldn’t/shouldn’t get the same sort of tagging attention now that we have Dale & Richards flying.

this needs to framed and stuck up on the wall of Bevo’s office, right beside his desk. I Couldn’t agree more. Peak flexibility was Hannan in defence. That was just beyond baffling and predictably he was atrocious. Still can’t fathom it.

We need Plan A, B and C.
Somewhere along the line, the word 'PLAN' has been dropped and players are being thrown around with no training, knowledge or planning
