I dont think they are competing for the same position. Hampson is a ruck/forward, until McBean really bulks up he is a forward pocket/3rd tall. McBean is more likely to be competing with Aaron Edwards and the other medium/3rd talls, in my view.

I think we could have maric, vickery, riewoldt, hampson and mcbean in the same team, keep in mind that 1 will be in the ruck and 1 will be on the bench at any given time, leaving 3 tall forwards.

Yep will be given a chance, I'm guessing after round 10. I believe due to his weight, may only play a few games. Lets hope he proves us wrong & play 6- 10 games half forward.
*Also fighting for the vacant forward postion, along with Knights, A.Edwards, O"Hanlon, Lennon, McDonough.

No teams rotation can afford to have a ruck on the bench "at any given time". That would be like playing a player short in the midfield. It isn't going to happen.

At least the last four flags have been won by teams with at least three big guys up forward. You need the big fellas up there taking contested marks and creating contests, September is all about big bodies and winning contests.


Hawhtorn 2013:
Franklin, Roughead, Gunston, Hale with Bailey in the ruck.

Sydney 2012:
Goodes, LRT, Reid with Pyke and Mumford rucking and a bit of time forward.

Geelong 2011:
Hawkins, Podsiadly, West with Ottens as 1st ruck.

Collingwood 2010:
Dawes, Cloke, Brown with Jolly as 1st ruck.

Personally I'd go with Waite, Henderson and Casboult forward with Kreuzer in the ruck as I feel Kreuzer is wasted in the forward line but there are other options.


I think Richmond can and will do the same with guys like Riewoldt, Vickery, Hampson, Maric and McBean.
