Ask a stupid question, get a stupid answer.
Implying Ryan can’t play is even stupider mate. Obviously he’s not NAS but there’s a list of about 10 blokes that are as good as NAS so you’re not really breaking new ground. Ryan easily makes your side better on and off field. Wouldn’t be going after him if he couldn’t play, don’t blame you for not watching the Eagles but he’d kick a hell of a lot more goals if he had any with a half decent kick delivering to him (NAS).

Probably similar to the Stribger trade Except stringer can seriously play and plays key position

Steele doesn’t want to leave. F3 or 43. Or you can huff and puff and treat a legend of you club like garbage and deny his request.

How are we treating him like garbage. We want him to stay,

So are the Saints going to allow club legend Marshall his wishes to go to Geelong for a F3rd or 43?

Nah. Didnt think so.

Maybe.

But for example if we don’t think he is worth a second rounder. We won’t do the deal.

Ala Brodie Kemp last year.

If you were keen on him and paying him the salary you nominated. I’d assume you just bid for him yourself.

Yes, st kilda said no to Brodie kemp and that now means every trade is purely based on what st kilda wants.

It’s as though clubs are desperate to trade players to st kilda and will cry if it doesn’t happen.

Wonder how many of these saints can do before it pisses managers off and no players get offered up.

Woo him with big cash, pay up.

I wouldn't be paying overs for this one given his age and decline in form (albeit with fair less access to the ball given he's in a poor side). He'd make our side better for sure, but I have concerns about his longevity.

F2 and an exchange of F3s at best. If the Eagles demand anything more then let him stay, as is his right.

Well we were saying he is worth a second round pick.

Too broad. Pick 19 in an uncompromised draft sure. Pick 38 in a compromised draft no thanks.

Don’t know what our list team are planning on doing but I’d be handing STK a list of 5-6 players we’re interested in and that’s it.

You won’t ensure your premiership player is out of pocket nearly $2m dollars.

So they won’t be doing that and likely settling for an F2. Which addresses your compromised draft concerns.

If you were interested in actually retaining him, you would have matched the deal. Not a lot else to pay at your club right now. Probably trading him 12 months too late to get best value right now aswell. We made the same mistake with Jack Steven.

Or we can retain him for the final year of his contract and let him explore FA next year and he can choose his club.

Sure.

Then he does his knee and misses out on close to $2m.

Unless you contract him yourself. I just can’t see you treating your player this way.

And 600k would be like band 3 aswell

Treating our player like both parties seeing out a two year contract that was mutually agreed to in the absence of a satisfactory offer?

The actual act of not taking a future second, to take at best a f3 in free agency is kinda mind boggling if I’m honest.
