De Goey got adverse media coverage and rightly so, why shouldn't an Eagles player suffer the same media scrutiny?

One would expect that would occur to any player in a similar situation. Hence why I gave them a couple of days to do something with it.

No Alias required, just registered September 2018 for no apparent reason.

Have to LOL at the tough guy attempt too.

Registered on here cos the Claremont serial killer blog on another site I got shut down. Have been reading big footy forum for years. Also got involved when Mitch McGovern requesting trade talk started.

The event and circumstances were reported back in July. Being charged and facing court is just the logical, natural course of justice and what we would expect. You seem to think it's a great big conspiracy though, so we can appreciate the failings in your thought process.

So the club only thought to release a follow up statement once the media alerted them to the fact it was public knowledge. Part of good PR is getting in the front foot.

I can’t believe this has made it to the papers.

The club paid hush money to the tree in question and the agreement was that it would stay out of the media to avoid further damage to his reputation.

Hush money just doesn’t work like it used to :\

Liam apologized to the tree and vowed to turn over a new leaf.

Haven’t read the thread, but did anyone consider this curve ball...

He crashed his car. Thought bugger. May as well sink some piss. Cops find him at a local park. Breath test goes bing bing.

Was he actually drunk driving?? Can you prove it???

Haha. Yeah just jokes. He was clearly on the sauce all night.

0.08 isn't much over so it's not like he had an absolute skinful. Still, maybe they should try the #GoodBloke defence?

Humans make mistakes ....he made one

He paid a price

He’s going to court

He has paid the club back in having a great year

Previously penalised for breaching club standards is fine with me. If found guilty by justice system then arguably club should further penalise, possibly by having him contribute (financially or other means) to Eagles supported charity. I say arguable because I’m still in two minds about whether it is the role of clubs to impose sanctions that are additional to those applied by the justice system

Regardless of this natural justice suggests there should be no further action by the club until the legal matters are fully settled which means he should play this weekend and the club should not be criticised for him playing. Arguably this is Liam’s result for refusing the breath test as it probably would all have been settled by now had he done so.

I know Freo supporters dont like the West, but just because you ignore something doesn't mean it didn't happen

1st July

Can you count the number of times alcohol and drink driving are in the artical?

I'll give you a hint.

ZERO

As per Eagle reporting in the West its the standard cover up. It wasn't until yesterday the Eaglez and WA media actually reported it was a drink driving incident.

Do you think maybe because it was still being investigated by the police? Charges were only recently done

Your tin foil hat must be extra tight today

Wow. The WA media waiting for the facts and evidence and not reporting rumours. There a first for everything.

Another paranoid myth from the purples

Eg

The WA media would have known Shane Yarran was under investigation for his role in a stabbing, however they didn’t report it until AFTER charges were laid. There was no rumours floated around prior to him being arrested.

Except the WA media pack basically hounded Shane Yarran to death. Bradley Hill gets a move on notice and it's page three in The West. Harley Balic goes home to Melbourne to try and sort out his mental health issues and it's the lead item on Seven News.

Ryan, by contrast, drinks and drives and gets written up as a rags-to-riches feel good story last week, with the charges buried on page 16 today.

Two days of bad press when your Coach and CEO tried to excuse your star midfielder breaking a teenager's jaw doesn't excuse the massive double standard from your media sponsors.
