Rumour Liam Ryan

All good. my question was more from a general perspective, not so much a Liam Ryan issue. Just thought clubs would not like the idea of players running around on country decks.

Yeah agree

It’s funny my partner and I were having a laugh tonight

I work in drug and alcohol counselling ...my partner is in family and child protection work..got both angles covered

Just for the lolz we’ve both lived in Kalbarri ...I can see how this happened hah hah

I was told that it was more just an argument between him & some family members, but it was down played to me by someone who would know & would love to stick the boots into WCE.

I could be wrong but it didn’t sound like he’d done much wrong apart from a drunken argument.......& not necessarily with his girl friend

I really hope this is not a situation of his partner not wanting his opportunity to earn an income ending and thus enduring and possibly cover up some unsavoury things.

There is smoke.

I agree

You try being a worker in the field

I work in drug and alcohol
My Partner works in child protection....we are so snowed under.....people have no idea how hard it is to try and get to everyone. Or just prevent stuff....
I heard a story recently about a child protection worker in WA giving up their holidays to care for a child that couldn't be housed otherwise, really quality people there.

Regarding Ryan, he had problems drinking when he came to Subiaco, he had problems drinking while at Subiaco, he has had problems drinking while at West Coast. At some point he will be asked to try giving it up and seeing if it clears the air for a while.

He is a grown man and can make his own decisions, and I don't like the idea of a footy club/employer imposing requirements on people in their free time, but with all the support they can offer him, he might need to leave the drink alone for six months.

Alot of experts here.

But I reckon the Eagles know if they cant curb his outside influences, he will be another Ashley Sampi lost talent. Nothing surer.

I don't want to be racist here, but it does seems family is the cause of a lot of indigenous players issues.

It depends on your intention really, its no secret that indigenous areas do struggle with family disputes and alcoholism, but by the same token Rioli seems to get a lot of his strength and inspiration from his family.

Think Rioli is a different case. His entire family seems very grounded and just have football in their blood. They probably live in decent areas too with the number of footballer salaries coming into the family. They'd have more money in the bank than most white families.

Ryan on the other hand doesn't have the same background, and has gone from WAFL player to Premiership star in less than a year. Perhaps he's just got a little high and mighty on himself and certain family members haven't taken well to his change of persona and circumstances.

Isn't this the prick the squibbed a mark in the GF?

You really need to watch the last 3 minutes again.

Oh wow, that is awful. Truly awful. His poor partner and kid.

(For those not yet across it - it's a Domestic Violence allegation, and an associated restraining order).

That is probably his AFL career done, too. You can't be celebrated as a sporting role model and have that on your rap sheet.

He should be suspended while investigations are ongoing, and if found guilty, sacked immediately.

Jumping to conclusions much? my god man.

It's not racist to acknowledge a lot of aboriginal kids grow up in a dysfunctional environment, Liam is one of them. Hopefully he can sort it out or it'll be a short footy career.

Who knows what you can or can't say anymore, especially on BF, always bound to be someone offended.

I think winning the flag in his first year may hurt him. He's already touched the pinnacle of the summit and may feel less motivated to change.

Send him back to where he came from. Or at least send him to that holiday island with all the other trouble makers. That'll teach him.

Its not racist its truth, Indigenous People have become a protected species when it comes to their behaviour and actions.
