Toast Liam Shiels Retires

A great servant mostly underrated even by the Hawthorn faithful. Thanks so much for your valuable years of service pup and staying a one club player.
Congratulations on a wonderful career and good luck in the future

Congrats Pup, great career. Got every ounce out of his abilities and earned a place in a team full of superstars. 255 games and 3 cups is a huge career by any standards.

On another note, this has a Luke Hodge “retirement” feel to it. Still think he goes to North.

A tremendous servant of the club and a 3 time premiership player. No hard feelings if he gets coaxed out of retirement elsewhere next year - has done more than enough for our club. Thanks Pup!

What a shame we couldn't give him a farewell game against Bulldogs. Oh well, things don't always go to script, but what a fantastic career. 3 flags is all you need to say. Thanks for your great service Pup!

Such an underrated, tough, team-first player. So many of these God don’t ever get the accolades they deserve. But at the end of the day no one can take away his three premierships!

Congratulations on a great career, Pup.

It sounds like he has genuinely retired too from ready the clubs release.

Not like Hodge's or Frawley's retirement when the club essentially decided it for them.

3 Flags.
That puts him in a very select group of former footballers.
Well done Pup!

What a champ...great words in his video...would love him to play on at Box Hill and help build our future...kudos Pup!

Hopefully this is not another Hodge moment and is next year playing at North.
Happy for him to go over there and be an Assistant Coach or development coach of some kind - seems like the kind of job he would excel in.

What a fantastic player and clubman. Called it at the right time, but will be sorely missed.

Thanks Pup!

Such an underrated player throughout his time in the brown and gold. It's kind of hard to believe that the kid we saw rock up at the club with still a year to go of high school. I do feel that he has made the right call and the way he handled this season was all class and just showed how much of a club first guy he truly is.

Good luck in the next phase Pup and hey you will be back next year for the 2013 premiership reunion.
