Both players are products of the 2008 draft. Stats pretty similar. Sloane is more of metres gained midfielder, where as Shiels is more renowned for his defensive work. Who would you take?

Despite that fact that Sloane's cheekbone has killed my Supercoach team twice this year i'm sticking with him and comfortably.

Shiels is a good solid contributor, Sloane is one of the competitions premium midfielders, 5th in champion datas AFL player ratings and really dwarfs Shiels numbers in every department. Shiels probably is more diligent defensively but Sloane is no slouch there either, terrific tackler.

They had played the same number of games prior to tonight, so both players have missed through injury.
Sloane has 7% less TOG than Shiels, yet still beats him in avg. disposals, clearances and smashes him in contested possessions. Sloane has played through calf and cheekbone injuries, Shiels has only had one injury affected match to Sloane's 4. Shiels is a good player, however Sloane is way out of his league.

Key word. Sloane's proven to be elite (or very close to). Selecting Shiels over Sloane, because he may have gone up a level would just be ridiculous.
It depends if you want a player for this season or over the prior 50 games. It seems by the lop-sided voting that the recent form of Liam Shiels is lost on many footy fans.

TOG% includes games that are not played, which does not include averages, so considering average stats in relation to TOG% is not logical.
Not sure what stats you're using. The rest of you're argument fails due to your first point being completely wrong.

How convenient to leave out the rest of my points

The rest of your points seem to be based on your TOG% stat, which is not relevant to average stats as it relates also to missed games which don't affect them. I'm referring to TOG% as used by Champion Data and displayed on afl.com.au

Are you trolling me? TOG% does NOT count missed games, Sloane has an average of 72% TOG of the games he's played compared to Shiels' 79%. Once again you fail to address Sloane's more serious and frequent injuries plus his statistical superiorities.
