Robinson would be up there with one of the most hated players in the AFL. I don't expect this to go very well....

Robo's courage is something to behold at his age. His aggression at the ball is very refreshing.

Seriously needs to learn to calm down when in possession though. He actually has a very good, penetrating kick on him. He just doesn't put it to good use with his nervousness.

When he sorts that out, and he will, he'll be a very, very good player for us.

Haven't seen enough of Shiels to comment objectively, but on Robinson his start to the season has been fantastic. Been cleaner with his disposal which has always been his biggest question mark, is kamikaze with his attack on the footy and for the moment is showing better consistency than he ever has.

Also showing the smarts to play as a genuine inside midfielder, which I doubted he had. Him and Curnow have made a big difference to Carlton's midfield rotations this season.

TBH i think Robinson is ahead atm but that may be from greater opportunity.

Shiels reminds me a lot like pendlebury, by the way he gets the ball and finds space. has started the season well with 21, 25, and 27 disposals over the last 3 weeks with an average of 6.5 tackles a game.

he is also only 19 even though he has been in the system going on 3 years now. so if he keeps this form up all season ill be more then happy with him.

Robinson is a scrapper... thats about it, will struggle to get a game as Carton develop more highly skilled players.

Shiels has played far less at the highest level however at this stage he looks like a well rounded mid, seems to have gained some pace in the last year or so.. knows how to find the footy and plays both ways.

Robinson currently is playing better football.
Lie, over the year to date (last 3 games and nab cup) Shiels is playing better footy.

its Robinson 2010 is what sets him apart from Shiels, but you have to also keep in mind Robinson was 19 turning 20 that year the same age Shiels is now.

Shiels was throw in the deep end in 2009 a bit to young to play at the top level but with our injures we had no choice.
2010 he got to spend most the year at box hill developing his game, and now in 2011 he is ready to play AFL footy and is showing what he can do.

Robinson was 20 turning 21 last year actually. Drafted as a 19 year old in 2008. First season 2009 as a 19/20 year old.
