First round draft pick, traded up in the draft just to get him, 4 years in the system, couldn't get a look in despite a large number of injuries to defenders, etc.

Considering we could effectively get Sholl for free with the Jones compo pick, I don't see why we would trade Stocker.

I'd prefer to keep Stocker and put some more development into him.

Luke Hodge II here never plays and when he does never touches the ball. Could be a late bloomer but first year players have more impact than him.

Would like to see him in the midfield now that Newnes is gone, and although Dow only played a handful of games his likely departure should help Stocker as well.

He had a really good year in 2021 as a mid-sized defender in what was his first season of senior footy.

Has all the attributes to make it as a gritty back pocket - toughness, competitive, decent read of the play, booming kick. He was injured throughout the season and that impacted his prospects with our small and mid-sized defenders being reasonably settled - Docherty, Saad and Newman most weeks.

There was one game he was dropped after playing an absolute stinker, trying to execute passes into the middle on his opposite foot, but mainly missed due lack of others sitting ahead in the pecking order.

He's not going to replace Newnes, who plays an outside role. Maybe he could play as an inside mid, but there is a clear design for him to play and get settled in defence which just hasn't happened yet. I expect he'd play out the season as a lockdown defender next year.

He’s an inside mid but really needs to take his fitness to another level.
He’s got the ability/game and the hard edge needed.
Really hoping he stays, smashes pre season and consolidates his place in the team.
He could be the type of player you’d like alongside you in September but it’s up to him to do the hard yards and build a career …
