Forgetting Libba,(yes please!) what is it with Gary Lyon?

On Footy Classified and TFS he brought the move of Judd to Carlton into the tanking debate.

Does he not comprehend that Judd was a trade. He has been on Carlton's case since last year and shows no inclination to be evensided and talk about other teams such as Port and the Roos sending players for surgery prior to season end.

Judd was indeed a trade but do you really think westcoast would have accepted anything higher than pick 3 if carlton won a few more games and finished higher on the ladder? They needed to offer the eagles at least pick 3 for him or he would have ended up elsewhere.

West Coast wouldn't have shipped Judd somewhere where he didn't prefer to play at.

****, what a dirty dog. Would love to see him down the street. Snitch.
He's out of the job, needs an income, poor way to go about it:thumbsdown:.

It's funny, a year ago I thought of Libba as a good bloke... This is obviously inside information, there's no need to release it for cash.

The thing that amuses me the most is that people blame Carlton.

The AFL put a system in place, Carlton take advantage of that system to best suit their situation and suddenly its Carltons fault.

Blame the AFL if anyone for having a stupid system in place.

(Not that I don't hate you guys :D )

I can't see that the tanking issue will ever be solved.

Suggestion of bottom 4 lottery: No good, teams coming 5th & 6th bottom will tank to move into bottom 4.

Solution: Everyone stop bloody sooking for christs sake, why don't we scrap the draft all together, that will solve tanking issue.

We all know Carlton didn't try to win. Their match committee, board and supporters all didn't want them to win at the end of last year. But Libba probably didn't need to release that info.

I don't think that makes him a scumbag though guys...he just needed to bite his tongue on the issue.

http://news.realfooty.com.au/libba-accuses-blues-of-tanking/20080313-1zb6.html

"Liberatore said the coaching staff had never talked about tanking, he believed the players were always trying to win and he was not aware of any directive from Blues executives to lose matches."

"I never heard (a directive to lose), but I could feel it, if that makes sense," Liberatore said.

It's the vibe

Classic, LMAO at the suckers who seem to have confused Hutchies hysterical headline with Libbers actual quote and came up with "proof from an insider".

keep up the amusing work.

This sort of comment really annoys me. I wanted Carlton to win every week of the 11 successive losses, as did many other Carlton supporters. Sure there was a minority who were happy to lose games near the end of the season to get a priority pick. Do not label every Carlton supporter as proponents of not winning games though, because the majority of Carlton supporters (if you use this board as a sample representation) were hurting through all of those losses.

So you think a collingwood or an essendon wouldn't have made judd happy? Gimme a break. It all boiled down to what was best for the eagles and carlton just happened to satisfy all parties at the time. I'm sure Judd would have been equally as happy to have played for collingwood considering how wealthy they are and how good their facilities are. Carlton just happened to be able to give the eagles more than what a collingwood could.

Tony Libratore is a stupid mother ****ing **** ******

after all this good press the carlton has recieved over the off season, this midget scumbag has to come out and bring up a story that everybody is sick of listening too, the only reason he did it is because he got fired from carlton and couldn't get another job at any other club, and had to resort to coaching grassroots footy, how do I know this?? I am from Sunbury, Victoria and Tony Libratore is the Head Coach of the senior football team at the Sunbury Lions!!

I am seriously going to go watch him in action when he coaches his first game and abbuse the absolute **** outta him, I have always hated that little scumbag weed of a man!!!! cry-baby bulldog whinger!!!!!!

please come down to sunbury when the footy starts and give libba shit with me!!!!!!:thumbsu:

The carlton cheer squad was quite embarrassing for you towards the end of the season though MS. I was near them a couple of times and the things they were doing when the opposition kicked a goal or carlton missed were quite staggering.

I am from Sunbury, and he has had a massive walk out of senior players from last year that don't want to play under him, he will be in line to get fired form Sunbury to....

He's a sh1t bloke and a sh1t coach!

Chris Judd had the chance to basically pluck out any club he wanted to go to and make it work, he chose Carlton, it worked.

It's the same as if he had chose any Melbourne, Collingwood or Essendon, they would have made it work, it all came down to Judd's preferance.

I doubt very much collingwood would have satisfied the eagles short of offering them a Dale Thomas or Pendlebury. Like I said, carlton offered a pretty good deal and all 3 parties were happy in the end.

I also thought the same TCB-1935.I was thinking to myself when Lyon dragged the Juddmeister into the tanking discussion last night on the Footy show all i could think about was that Lyon was still piss*d off that the Demons were "so close and yet so far"to getting the Great man.
Libba is a little ferret, always has been IMO!!!

Can I ask anyone on this thread now if Wayne Campbell was wrong in dobbing libba in after king hitting Matty Knights a few years ago? I bet opinions are drastically changed now.;)

You're forgetting the most relevant thing in the the equation here......JUDD ACTUALLY CHOSE CARLTON!!!:D

Whats the point of bagging one bloke out. What is it going to solve?

We need a drafting LOTTERY system similiar to that of the NBA draft.

The lower on the ladder you finish.. the more chances you get allocated at grabbing the number one pick, but the number one pick is not guaranteed to the last place.

NBA case Study:

1990-Present: Weighted Lottery System

In a further refinement in October of 1989, the Board of Governors adopted a weighted system beginning with the 1990 NBA Draft Lottery, which included 11 teams due to expansion. The team with the worst record during the regular season received 11 chances at the top pick (out of a total of 66), the second-worst team got 10 chances and the team with the best record among the non-playoff clubs got one chance.

The Magic defied the new lottery odds by winning the No. 1 pick two years in a row. In 1992, the weighted system worked in their favor as they parlayed the second-worst record (21-61) into LSU center Shaquille O'Neal. O'Neal helped Orlando make a 20-win improvement and the Magic just missed the playoffs at .500 in 1993. With just one chance out of 66, the Magic scored the No. 1 pick yet again and selected Michigan forward Chris Webber, trading him immediately to the Warriors for the draft rights to the No. 3 pick, Memphis guard Penny Hardaway and three future draft picks.
The Board of Governors approved a modification of the Lottery system in November of 1993 that, effective with the 1994 NBA Draft Lottery, increased the chances of the teams with the worst records in the league winning one of the top three picks in the draft while decreasing the lottery chances of the teams with the best records. The new system increased the chances of the team with the worst record drawing the first pick in the draft from 16.7 percent to 25 percent, while decreasing the chances of the team with the best record among lottery teams from 1.5 percent to 0.5 percent.

Under the system, 14 ping-pong balls numbered 1 through 14 are placed in a drum. There are 1,001 possible combinations when four balls are drawn out of 14, without regard to their order of selection. Prior to the Lottery, 1,000 combinations are assigned to the Lottery teams based on their order of finish during the regular season. Four balls are drawn to the top to determine a four-digit combination. The team that has been assigned that combination will receive the number one pick. The four balls are placed back in the drum and the process is repeated to determine the number two and three picks. (Note: If the one unassigned combination is drawn, the balls are drawn to the top again.)

You're forgetting the most relevant thing in the the equation here......JUDD ACTUALLY CHOSE CARLTON!!!:D

Yes I fully understand that but please tell me if Judd chose carlton and they finished in say 10th or 11th spot, what could they possible have offered the eagles to have satisfied them? I would guess a Marc Murphy would have been on the table? The eagles would have let him go to the preseason draft for nothing or would have only dealt with teams near the bottom. It wasn't just about what Judd wanted. At the end of the day, he's a blue and that's the end of it.
