Lids also mentioned he enjoys playing CHB rather than being moved around to different positions during a game. Now he feels comfortable and is able to be more consistent with his game play.

hallelujah! Lids is not and never has been a midfielder!!! Thank F*** Hardwick is intelligent enough to realize. Pure half back. There is no shame in a number 1 draft pick being a specialist half backmen when they do it like Lids does.

All this rubbish most of you have been going on with for five years now that he is a midfielder is rubbish. He wasn't at underage level and certainly was never going to be at afl level. Clearly winning the nut in tight is not his forte...but FFS there is nothing wrong with that!

leave that to Cotch,Martin and Foley who were born to extract.

Leave him there for the rest of his career and watch him become everything we hoped he would.

i certainly dont mind him in the back half...all good sides have genuine qty down there...when Connors joins him with Newy there also....we have a good mix of class with some steele on the last line

I dont get this?? Lids played as a mid in the 2nd half of last season and had the most hardball gets and clearances. He is an extremely good midfielder and extremely good forward and back.

Where he will end up playing im not sure but it will always be where we need him most, which at the moment is back because Connors is suspended. Easily the most talented player on our list.

RT, when he goes into the midfield he is one of the best in the leauge. Saying he was never a midfielder and never will be is just stupid. against Essendon as soon as he went into the midfield we where on top. we should be playing him where he best fits. just because he was not a midfielder at junior level doesnt mean he cant be one at AFL. for example Connors and McGuane where not drafted as defenders.

I always thought he woulde a midfielder, i think he can excel in any position, but he has been very good off half back, should do what hodgey does for hawks, plays off half back but comes into the middle when we need him.

I have said for some time now I see Deledio as following the same career path and being the same type of player as Brendon Goddard. Seemed to have everything when drafted. Maybe hadn't come on as quickly as some would have liked and was maligned at times early in career. Struggled to find a permanent position but then found one 4-5 years in accross the hb line. Will end up being an elite player by around 24-25 yeras of age as a genuine utility. Deledio has everything that Goddard has, but he also has something extra, elite pace.

awful call coke zero. Lids has his days in the midfield but it is widely acknowledged he struggles with a tag in close. Can shake them outside and in the air but not in tight. There is nothing wrong with him being a specialist half back in the mould of Hodge and Goddard. But I won't have it that he is as capable of changing games in the guts like Hodge & Goddard can, thats just silly. Not at this stage anyway.

I'm not Deledio bashing just saying it how he is, one of my favourite players but must be kept at half back

True. And silly as it sounds the whole balance was better and the ball wasnt being pumped back in so quick so we didnt need him as a sweeper... if that makes sense. Also when he was down back, he was on Jetta, and he had his best game for the year. Lids got plenty and used it well, but was uncountable for his man

deledio only enjoys it down there cause the ball is there more often, once the team is better he wont like it cause the ball will be the other end of the ground

Agreed!
He can play everywhere except for Ruck.... and probably would not be that bad at that either.
A pleasure to watch him killing it off half back, but nice to know if they start to tag him, then he can run to FF and play out of the square.
Gun.
