Hird is not overrated. He deserves all the accolades he gets. Out and out champion of the game and you should have more respect.
Having said that, there's no way he was BOG on Sat night. Strange decision that one.

Hird doesn't deserve all the CURRENT game day accolades he receives NOW!.
Just look at Saturday night's 'Indigenous' Award.

His early career was excellent. Maybe a Champion.

Hird is not a Champion NOW!.

Hird doesn't deserve current game day awards based on his past career.

But I respect intelligence. Not past history as a judgment of current form.

Listen to what I say, watch Hird get a kick and see how the commentators rave on. Watch a first year player do the SAME and see if they throw the 'Champion' term (& AWARDS) around. They don't. They are judging Hird's simple, current, ball work based on his past actions.

Perhaps the comments made after the Cats game have served as the wake up call he needed. Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that he has not been tagged in those 3 games either. Will be interesting on Saturday night what the Lions do they have a couple of good run with players in Copeland and Selwood and you would think that Deledio and Foley will be the prime candidates for those 2. If Lids is tagged closely then we will get a true indication as to whether he has broken the shackles or whether he has been enjoying a little too much freedom lately.

I certainkly agree with most of what you said. I dont think he was bad before the geelong game just below what peoples expectation were, especially after he dominated pre season.

I also thought he was tagged on Saturday night. Certainly early McVeigh seemed to go everywhere with lids. The best thing is his confidence is real high ATM and just hope he continues to perform.
