Life is unfair/precious

[DAWESOME!!]

So, had to go to the funeral of the son of a friend from work today. Kid was 20, and died from what they believe was an accidental overdose (meth).

Just a horrible horrible thing to have happened. They're the most lovely family, but no parent should have to bury their kid. I didn't know the boy, but he seems to have been a lovely guy, albeit one who hadn't yet found his "thing" in life and thus had been drifting a bit this year.

So many of us go through patches like that, especially as kids, and to lose your life is such a stiff price to pay for a bit of poor judgement.

Pretty horrible being at a funeral where half the people there are under 25.

Sorry to hear about your friend. The universe is indifferent, but we know on this odd little rock drifting through time and space that life is precious.

I managed to stay away from many of the paths to destruction in my 20s, but other friends weren't so lucky: cars and heroin took a hideous toll. But I did stupid things, too, and I know I'm lucky to be sitting here and contemplating just how lucky I am.

Make sure to look after yourself.

Asked why after so many years, why get divorced?
"Oh, we had to wait till the kids died"
