Porps has some really great suggestions above. Try it out, see if it works and if it doesn’t, there’s a million other strategies out there that might.

My PMs are also always open if you want a general chat about anything. I know I’ve gone through those WTF is the point of anything moods yet all things considered I’ve been pretty bloody lucky with my lot in life.

I skip so many tasks I need to do; cleaning, cooking, appointments. I eat poorly and have put on a lot of weight. I have had virtually no dating life in over a year now, and a shitty medical condition lasting well over a year as well. All of these problems are my own, due to my own habits and I fear that I will always be like this.

Every Sunday I wash my clothes which takes 45 minutes, while the machine is going i clean the kitchen and my bedroom.

I live on my own and while i don't like doing it i do feel better about myself for doing it.

Small steps at a time, if your bedroom is a mess then spend 30 minutes a week cleaning it up.

I live by myself in a studio apartment and live a very minimalist lifestyle, I can do my cleaning in around 15 minutes once a week, never have to really tidy up too much either because I don't have many possessions to scatter around the place.

The job I hate the most is washing up after my cooking projects.

I do the same. Do all my washing as soon as I get up Sunday mornings (unless Ive got something to do Sunday morning which is never).

Clothes first.
Then sheets etc.
Then towels etc.

Clean bits of the house during each cycle and have breakky, Bigfooty etc.

Its become a relaxing little routine.

P.S. A little tip once your clothes come out the machine, shake them out and hang them on hangers. I find I dont have to iron anything or fold minimal things (except towels etc)

P.P.S. Put it all away as soon as you bring it in coz if I dont do it ASAP its there the following week [emoji6]

Anyway I really like the little things in life lately. Who cares about other peoples thoughts/success or how u think your life should be better or whatever.

Time for coffee Mmmm

Hey Brother Bear. Drop us a PM if you need to chat. I can't add much because I am pretty much you 17 years into the future with a few more problems. As others have said, identifying the problem is the first step and probably the biggest one if I may add. Might be a good time to look at some things you want to do in life and plan to go and do them while you're young and have fewer strings tying you down.

Wholesome thread, and a far-cry from a lot of the one-upmanship and general shitstirring that permeates a lot of Bigfooty threads.

A lot of blokes hate talking about their feelings about trivial things, let alone provide a snapshot of their mental health and admit it’s not the best. It does feel like a weight off your chest though, even if it is just divulging to a bunch of strangers on the internet.

If you are into watching sport on tv there has never been a better time to be alive.

Turn off social media, crack a tin and watch the cricket world cup or French Open or Giro d'Italia or something. As a time killing exercise it beats attention seeking hashtags hands down.
There's a certain aurora about sitting up late watching some international sport with complete silence in the neighbourhood. Watched all three EFL playoffs last weekend, something that wasn't possible 10 years ago

Just got Kayo and reckon that’s me sorted until retirement and beyond. Along with Netflix, don’t need to leave the house except for work.

The thing is, some people struggle with an inner voice telling them that they were meant to do / achieve / experience 'more'.

And invariably those people, if they cannot get on top of that voice, will lead unhappy lives, no matter what they do / achieve / experience.

Sometimes I read posts from people and think, yep, he is one of those people.

I should know.

Anyone really struggle with self-sabotage? Every time I work my ass off to get to a reasonable position it's like i'm afraid of success and just ruin it for myself. I'm aware of this but I just can't stop these negative patterns. Then I fall into a snowballing depression to the point i'm suicidal, realise I need to pull myself out and rinse and repeat.

i find it hard to live in the moment

if im exercising i feel i could be with family

if im out and about with family missing out in relaxing etc

nothing major just always thinking of whats next

Thats sort of normal though.

At work: ah be nice to be chilling at home.
At home (for too long): pretty bored, shouldve gone to work.

My main thought is always about my lack of money and all the things Id do if I had it.

Then I think would i actually do any of the things Im thinking of.

Like mon-fri wouldnt really change (unless i won like millions) and then the weekend would come and I Reckon I still CBF going out doing stuff.

Its "the grass is greener" type stuff.

Nah, I'd never think about going to work of I was at home forever. I'd always find either something constructive to do or be a PS4 slob inbetween. If I won something like set for life I'd buy a place, pay off my mum's place, quit my job and solely focus on my studies.

For those who don't like cooking, learn. Not only is it something that you can easily get good at, it also saves you money. It's also good because you just concentrate on the task at hand and get out of your own head for a bit.

For those who don't like cleaning you have a few options. If you can spare the money, price up a cleaner. They might cost you $50 a week but maybe it is worth it for your sanity. Otherwise, put some headphones on and punch out an hour every Sunday morning. Always wash and dry when you cook, do smaller loads of clothes washing more regularly and make sure the first thing you do when you walk in the door after work is put everything away before you sit down.

The secret to cleaning is clutter. The fewer open surfaces you have the harder it is to clean and the less motivated you become. Have less clutter and more cupboards etc if you need to so everything has a home. If I get off my arse and simply put everything back where it goes then my kitchen ends up with just a toaster, kettle, coffee machine in one corner and a knife block in another. Very easy to clean all the surfaces. Lived in a house previously that had no cupboard space, no bench space etc. so it was always cluttered. To clean you spent half your time moving stuff from one position to the next and back to clean under it.

Why bother studying if you won lotto?

Guess it's something to do.
