Lightning Stakes Day

🥰 Love BigFooty? Join now for free.

So like last year they're expecting 30,000 fans to go down, does anyone actually know how many went last year though?

The areas we were seemed to be very spacious - we pretty much did what we want and just want to know if it will be similar this year?

FYI it looks like Royal Haunt will be sold to Hong Kong  so if passes vet today will not be running and we won't see him again. The owner stating that the drop in Prizemoney in the Aus Guineas from $750k to $500k is the reason he is selling... w***er. So be wary of the speed in that race, changes a lot if there is no Royal Haunt. I hope it runs as I think there are 4 other winning chances but if it fails a vet it wont be running anyway I guess!

New York has looked like smashing a Flemington race for 6 mths. If I don't back it, it will. If I do it won't (Price's will win) will keep you lucky gents posted.

I photographed New York in the flesh less than two weeks ago at the Sale Quality.
Usually you wouldn't credit form to country meets but the prize pool tempted some good talent.
New York won easily though.
Know the owner Ellis Stevens fairly well, always a nice bloke to bump into at the races.
And Chris Symons is a top jockey.
Love to see the horses I photograph in the country do well in city class racing.

I am excited about photographing the mare (BC) again too.

It's got talent and has a great turn of foot just needs to produce it against this company!

Really excited to see Rebel Dane return up in Sydney.

Think it looks a tough day today - hopefully only a couple of winners needed to turn a profit. Here are mine:

Flemington
Race 1 - 7.Annenberg
Race 3 - 7.Music Shop
Race 5 - 8.You're So Good
Race 6 - 2.Albrecht
Race 7 - 6.Black Caviar from 8.Shamexpress

Rosehill
Race 2 - 3.Steps In Time
Race 3 - 3.Criterion
Race 4 - 1.Brilliant Bisc
Race 5 - 2.Rusambo
Race 6 - 1.Drifontein

Most backable is probably MUSIC SHOP - hopefully starts $6+

FLEMINGTON
Race 2 - Vatuvei. Likes it a little bit longer, but I'm hoping he will have a bottler first up. Dany The Fox, Cosmic Causeway and New York should fight it out. But, some spare change on Vatuvei for me.
Race 4 - Tough race, but I am with Angola. Lightly raced, is going to get better and better, the 2000 suits, and should run well.
Race 5 - Interesting race for mine. Don't think there are any major stand out hopes that are a cut above the others. For me, Petite Diablesse looks to have come back really well, and I think can continue on it's winning ways.
Race 7 - Black Caviar will win. Chucked a couple of bucks on Satin Shoes. Like her as a horse, first up, and less than 1200 should run well.
Race 9 -Under the Hat each way. Good at the distance and the track.

ROSEHILL
Race 2 - Capital Commander. Looking for a little bit of value, and chucked a very small sum on Capital Commander. Goes better at 1200 compared to 1400 for mine. Don't know if it can beat Steps in Time and Red Tracer, but worth a 5-er, in my opinion.
Race 5 - Good race. Really like Rusambo. Think his form is good, ran well behind Happy Galaxy, and goes well second up. Big show.
Race 6 - Another really good race. I think Jade Marauder at odds, first up is good outside chance. If the rain comes down will be even better. Like Brave Soul as well. Not as much if it is wet.
Race 7 - Bello and Fibrillation. Good value in those two horses for mine.
Race 8 - Vilakazi Street. Purely on First up and Distance form. Over the odds.

Edit: Quaddies
FLEMINGTON
1,2,3,7/6,7/9,13/1,2,4,7,8 - 18.75%
ROSEHILL
1,2,3,5/1,5,6,9/1,4,6/3,7,9 - 10.41%

Still to early in the season for me to be lashing out today.

I had Danny the Fox in R2 at 2.50 earlier in the week after getting a tip from a good source
Other than that, there's a tip around for Rosehill R8 Kirinata - wide open race that one.

Other than that, I just thought I'd have a couple of quiet quaddies - which led to me having to make a deposit to Sportsbet, cos I discovered the Big 6 jackpot. I withdrew from Sportsbet months ago, I hate them passionately.

The other reason it bummed me out is that I cant remember the last time I had to make a deposit!

Anyway:

Flem Big 6: 2, 3, 5, 6, 9/ 1, 3, 5, 7, 8/ 1, 2, 3/ 6/ 6, 9, 11, 13/ 1, 3, 7, 11

Went wide chasing the jackpot, so that's only for about 6%

R'hill Quaddie: 1, 2, 5, 8 / 1, 2, 6 / 3, 4, 5, 6 / 1, 3, 6, 7

Just over 20%

I haven't done my Flemington Quaddie yet, it'll depend a bit on the first to legs of the big 6. But it'll go something like:

2, 3, 5 / 6 / 2, 6 , 9, 13, 14 / 1, 2, 3, 7, 10 (I hate the last today)

I'll go for about 40% of that. But if the Big 6 is still alive after the first 2 legs, this'll obviously change

R'hill Quaddie: 1, 2, 5, 8 / 1, 2, 6 / 3, 4, 5, 6 / 1, 3, 6, 7

Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit. I'm usually so careful! I make the selections - I double check, I triple check. I check what I have on the form guide then check my selections again.

Not today - I don't have 6 (Soledad) in the quaddie for R7 :(

I'm tempted to unload on him at $3.40... it's a surefire way to make sure he doesn't win.

Should have followed :@
Went big on Decircles :@

Had Decircles and Belfast boy in a duet......so at least got a little bit of the action.....

Still fuming about New York as I had it in a duet with Audino (Audino came third and paid $17)....New York finished 4th!!

Yes, I'm speaking through my wallet - but I'm flabbergasted that the protest in the last at Rosehill was thrown out. When Agister clearly shifted in front of upshot, and when the margins were a nose to a short head, that should've been all that was needed to relegate Agister to third...

Spoke briefly to the owner of New York before the race.
He was pretty bullish about a win.
Didn't get to see them after the race.
No doubt disappointed.

Nash, just stick to riding horses champ, you're a shite pundit.

Why the **** do tvn even have him? He's such a ****ing cat, the only time I like to see him is when he goes in the stewards room after a protest and the shit is just running down his legs like wonka's chocolate river. ****ing beak nosed campaigner.
