Liked, Sydney grinding out wins. You don't need to be kicking high scores to be effective
Learnt. GWS have a pulse albeit faint, ditto Hawthorn.
Hated: The diving , Sinclair and Rance in particular.

Liked: loved that winning feeling. Welcome back reasonably new friend.

Learnt: Melbourne are starting to look a little scary. Average to good players like Tom McDonald and Jesse Hogan starting to look like superstars. Strange a scary team in red and Blue but it is what it is.

Hated: Darling injury. Guys having the season of his life and that's just awful. Hope it's surprisingly trivial.Lever as well under pressure as a highly paid recruit. Often wonder if it's worse when you join a clubs long term rehab group in that situation.

Liked: The tigers going into another gear once essendon challenged and got within 2 goals. Even before the goals came you could just see the pressure lift and then we just pummeled the bombers into submission, was a joy to watch.

Learned: already knew this but just reaffirmed it, if we play our best at the g we are going to be very very hard to beat. I’d back our best there against anyone in the comp.

hated: the hysteria over the Rance dive, yes he put a bit of mayo on the dive but he’s not the first to do this, I’ve seen Ben brown do the same thing while selwood does it everytime he’s tackled with his lifting the arm to draw a free.

Liked: Paul Ahern debut. Great reward for a bloke who'd had really crappy luck.

Learned: Chief was raised by wolves and uses "learnt" not "learned" like civilised people.

Hated: Umpiring in the North v Brisbane game. Didn't effect result but was inconsistent, tiggy touchwood stuff that visibly annoyed the players and took away from the actual game.

Liked : A big win interstate, Gazza might yet prove us all wrong? Ryan Gardner in the VFL, Indigenous strips should replace horrible "white away" strips....

Learnt: The Tigers are still the team to beat and the Eagles will be lost without Darling! The Bombers are still gliders...

Hated: The Rance dive..must be given a week for idiocy alone, Burgoyne report...

Liked:
Hated: AFC continuing to be a boys club with a 'good bloke' mantra.
Learnt: Footy is turning into soccer with players more and more trying to play for frees. AFL too weak to stamp it out. Soccer hands out bans, footy needs to as well. Fines dont work.

I also just learned that some people try to act intelligent but fail woefully.

Liked: Big wins for North and Cats giving rise to a colossal clash on Saturday.

Learnt: The Gold Coast Suns experiment has all the hallmarks of a disaster. First game of the year at its home ground, a near full team, and look what the Suns dished up. What AFL players or budding draftees would want to play for a club that is directionless?

Hated: Rance diving and Richmond supporters talking it down, saying others do it. Nobody does it better than Rance.

Liked: GWS win in Adelaide
Learned: Umpires can still be the cause of a 10 goal loss
Hated: Dreamtime was a fizzer, with the exception of the pre-game which was superb
Already knew: The AFL's "even" season aint that even

Liked:
-Paul Ahern debut. Long time in the making for a talented kid wrecked by injury.
-GWS v Adelaide. Awesome game. Dylan Shiel is an underrated player
-Jake Stringer PB game. Looked at home in the middle. Too bad it didn't do much good given the opposition. Saad and Smith impressive again too. Not a bad trade period, ey? :p
-Jy Simpkin. After McGrath and Taranto, really wanted this kid at Essendon.

Learned:
-Richmond at full pace are unstoppable. Back to Back beckons
-Tom Lynch should move from GCS. His talent is being wasted on a team rebuilding. Give them the best compensation pick and priority pick if need be, but he should move to a club where he can challenge for the Coleman.
-North just get it done.

Hated:
-Essendon failing to adapt to a superior team. We kept trying to play Plan A when it was failing for 3 quarters. Did think throughout the night how much we missed Daniher to disrupt the Tigers set up on our half forward line
-Hurley beating Dusty in a marking contest only to be pinged for a nothing free. Such contests should not be discouraged. Shades of Jako v Carey in that one.
-Two positives in my Liked for North. I feel dirty.
-North winning. that feels better.

Liked : Can't say. Other than to question.. "Does karma exist". I am more a believer after this weekend.

Hated : The injury to lever. Poor guy. Couldn't have happened to a nicer bloke from all reports. Some would say it's karma. Not me though. I don't believe in such stuff.

Liked: Shane Edwards at Dreamtime, well-deserved BOG award Saturday night and the Adelaide v GWS game, close game for once.

Learned: Competition is not as even as everyone is going on about. Yeah there’s one or two upsets a week but for the most part the team expected to win will win.

Hated: Umpiring. I feel like a traitor but that free to Dusty was not there and stop staging Rance! You’re better than that.

Why?

He's tracking alright, although I would like to see him do more in games. Coming off an interrupted pre-season, so hopefully he picks up steam as the year rolls on.

I think he'll always be compared with Florent, because they went after each other in the draft, both promising mid-forwards, with several clubs interested in both. I was keener on Florent at the time, but not unhappy with Jy.

Just a fan. He struck me as a longer term project than the likes of Florent, McGrath, Taranto and SPS, but he looks worth it.
Admittedly, we are probably overstocked with his type though.

Dunno why Rod's lukewarm on Simpkin, kid is an absolute jet, averaging 18 touches and a goal, cracking in for 5.5 tackles a game.

Love him. That sidestep too.
