Opinion Likely Best 22 2018 (revisited)

I don't get the interest in Lever by Melbourne (Adelaide has said that is his club of choice).
Isn't their back line pretty good?
They don't have anyone decent who can intercept and rebound like Lever does. If Melbourne hadn't of given Howe away for chips they definitely would have played finals last season and could use this years pick on best available. Howe has been a disaster for them and should be talked about more imo.

B: Scharenberg Dunn Sinclair
HB: Crisp Reid Howe
C: Sidebottom Pendlebury Aish
HF: WHE Moore De Goey
F: Fasolo Cox Elliott
R: Grundy Adams Treloar
I: Langdon Maynard Broomhead Wells

Hoping for the best re Broomhead and Aish

Crisp certain starter across half back. I though he was very beastly there in the second half of last season and expect him to be one of the big improvers in 2018. Defence has decent balance between players who can use the ball well and players who can defend imo.

Varcoe didn't do enough for me when he played. He lacks the defensive game of Phillips and I think we have better rebounding options from defensive 50 in Crisp and Maynard. Having him as depth is a compliment to the team in my eyes.

Sorry but Maynard should NEVER get a look in the backline ever again.

He is 100% a wingman/mid or half forward.

As much as he's now growing on me, he is a dead set liability in the backline.

Langdon Dunn Coffield
Maynard Howe Varcoe

Grundy Pendlebury Adams
Hoskin Sidebottom Treloar

Wells Reid De Goey
Elliott Moore Fasolo

Int
Crisp Phillips Scharenberg Cox

Def: Reid, Goldsack, Howe, Scharenberg, Langdon, Sinner and Crisp

Mid: Grundy, Pendles, AT, Adams, JDG, Maynard, Phillips and Wells

Fwd: Moore, Cox, Elliott, Fasolo, Sidebottom, Daicos and WHE

Keep that mix healthy with a re-work of the game plan and we're comfortably top 5-8.

Feel we are deliberate in our deilings. This year we can expect some more positional adjustments which will be introduced over the next 2 seasons
No doubt. Exciting times are ahead and with our off field improvement in coaching , familiarisation and most of all a finish 13 draw
Loss of dr davoran is cream on the top
We will see a team like this at some stage
Sinclair dunne Howe
Crisp Reid varcoe
Wells Adams Maynard
Wills Moore Elliot
Sidey cox fasolo
Grundy pendles at
Sack Phillips jdg shaz
Wills will suprise and will be considered for a defensive forward third tall roll strong good hands and tackles hard
Cox and. Grundy changing at full forward with crumbers
Also can see a change perhaps with another mid to be looked at in back line
Mc clarty too will get his chance
Sack gets in as a swingman

Sack gets in as a swingman

Been thinking about where Wills fits in and my thinking is if he cracks best 22 that might be the spot with his height and tackling pressure.

Goldsack is the other one. If McLarty or Reid play back and Cox can hold down a forward role then Goldy can play that defensive forward role which he did in the last game.

Agree agree
Like the intensity wills and sack bring
Think like Richmond we need more forward motion and less precision , this will require a ability to HUNT the player and ball and HURT

First time poster, long time diddler.

Jeez I hope Murray is Hine's return to form after 6 years of Blues worthy garbage. Get Coffield, CHB's are easier to find than elite kicks with pace off half back, play Moore CHF, worry about FF in 2019.

B: Murray - Dunn - Shaz/Langdon
HB: Coffield - Sack - Howe

C: Treloar - Pendles - Maynard

HF: Steele - Moore - Wells
F: Elliot - Bigger Cox - Faz

R: Grundy - De Gozza - Adams

Bench: WHE - Varcoe - Reid (swing man swap with Moore) - Any one of Crisp Greenwood, Thomas, Kirby, Daicos, Phillips, Aish, Broom, Brown

*Hopefully McClarty takes a step and can push Sack out by end of 2018, Kirby and Daics take a step and push Faz & WHE.

Go Pies.

You are not seriously saying Cox could play the same way or role as Jack. Jack is a natural footballer he has a better tank pace and footy IQ. Cox will never get to as many contest as Jack does

lol what are you on about, Jack Riewoldt is one of the most overrated forwards I've ever witnessed in AFL.

When you see a team like this, we all realise how good we can become. When our players are firing , we can beat some of the better teams in the competition. If we ever want to challenge for the 8 we need to be able to beat teams like st Kilda, port, essendon, melbourne, westcoast ... otherwise we will allways miss the 8

If you are to play Moore in defence , wouldn't you prefer him upforward instead of Reid?
