Collingwood
who do you think will finish up this year?
for me its
Adelaide:
Brodie Smith (33) and Tex Walker (35)
Brisbane: Lincoln McCarthy (31) you suspect Zorko and Lester go on for another year at 37 and 33 years old
Carlton: a few months ago i would have said Nick Haynes (33) but he's played into some great form and i think is 50:50 to play on next year , Sam Docherty (31) had a great career unfairly cruelled by injiury but deserves to retire on his own terms this seems like Doc's last go in the Navy Blue
Collingwood: Mason Cox (34) a fairly obvious retirement considering his form this season with age/a storied injury history catching up with the giant American Pie , Tom Michell (32) finds himself outside the best 23 and will struggle to get back in imo , Will Hoskin-Elliott (31) (becoming more of a fringe player but has been grossly underrated for the better part of 10 years a 2018 knee injury turning him into a patchy winger/forward after being a medium forward who could be played out of the goalsquare though more a genuine utility as he got older with brilliant highs and some ordinary lows the Pies want to retain him for 2026 but i think if a list squeeze gets too tight The Hosk finishes up a premiership hero
Essendon: Todd Goldstein (36) he has been a wonderful ruckman for North and a handy mentor for Essendon's young rucks but its looking likely its Goldy's last year , Nik Cox (23) concussion looks like it might end his career
Fremantle: Michael Walters (34) looks all but certain to retire at seasons end if not before finals due to a ongoing knee injury and playing no games this season , Nat Fyfe (great career and shown some good signs might have one good finals series left in him if Freo make it in)
Geelong: Cameron Guthrie (32) riddled with soft tissue injuries for the better part of 3 years now , Mitch Duncan (34) cooked had a great career though , Rhys Stanley (34) depends on whether Geelong get a ruck in the trade period might retire anyway due to a degenerative knee injury , Jed Bews (31) seems 50:50 leaning towards a honorable retirement
Gold Coast SUNS: David Swallow (32) becoming a fringe player , Alex Sexton (31) same as Swallow
GWS GIANTS: Callan Ward (35) a right ACL injury seems to all but end this champion's career sadly , Lachlan Keefe (35) a true journeyman for the Pies and Giants i think he calls time at the end of the year
Hawthorn: Luke Breust (34) one of the greatest small forwards of all time he's most likely playing his final season unless he has a dramatic purple patch/form turnaround
Melbourne: Tom McDonald (32) he has been a wonderful player whether a forward or defender for Melbourne but it seems younger defenders like Daniel Turner have taken his spot , Jake Melksham (33) looks a bit finished to me he had a great purple patch a month ago been too inconsistent otherwise , Tom Campbell (33) the journeyman ruck will retire at the end of the season you suspect
Port Adelaide: Travis Boak (36) has possibly played one too many been one of my all-time favorite players to watch
Richmond: Kamdyn McIntosh (31) out of the best 23 now and starting to become a fringe player in your 30s probably retiring)
Saints: Jimmy Webster (31) father time is undefeated
Sydney Swans: Dane Rampe (35) one of Sydney's greatest defenders considering his age and emergence of younger defenders looks like it will be his last season , Robbie Fox (32) soft tissue old man injuries have caught up with the Swans cult favorite
West Coast Eagles: Jeremy McGovern (33) medical retirement , Dom Sheed (30) ACL retirement
Western Bulldogs: Taylor Duryea (34) cooked , Liam Jones (34) cooked

Boak, ward, mason cox, swallow, docherty, breust

Dylan Shiel is a possible, not sure he would want another season running around in the VFL.

another club would pick him up.
Who? Not sure a top 8 team would and for developing teams they would prefer to play their younger players like Essendon are doing

Nathan Bock
Fabian Francis
Donald Dickie
Danny Dickfos
Nick Fozdike
Orazio Fantasia

Nat Fyfe getting there?

Jamie Cripps perhaps

There are players going worse than Lynch in the league, he kicked 3 last week, our key forward line is super young.
and we are the worst team kicking inside 50.

Guess he can continue to go out swinging.

Heh.

No because he’s shit.
It's funny 'cause it's true.

Sure, he might kick 20ish goals if he plays on in 2026, but he just isn't good enough anymore. More importantly he sets a very bad example for his young teammates with his sooking and stupidity on the field.

However, with how the club responded to the Balta situation I expect Lynch gets another year.

Maybe just hire an open top bus to parade them all on grand final day rather than a bunch of cars
I'd make the old bastids walk, save a few dollars and it would be good for them to get fresh air

Dayne Zorko has made it very clear he wants to play for as long as possible so if his 36 year old body gets through the season he will play on.

Possible retirees >

Ryan Lester.
Sam Day - if Oscar Allen signs on.
Linc McCarthy - if he gets through the expedited rehab OK and gets on the field this year will play on.
Oscar McInerney - Reportedly has a degenerative back issue.

Don't think any are guaranteed to retire for us but I'd hope that McIntosh gets a tap on the shoulder. Reckon Prestia will go around again unless he gets another soft tissue injury before the end of the season. Lynch is playing on, as he should.

Brodie Smith and Tex Walker
