In recent years, everyone who has cost us anything at the trade table has looked the goods, jury is still out on aish, but I'm a believer. Most of these guys - varcoe, crisp, howe, and greenwood came with great reservations from this board. I'm happy to trust the recruiters above board sentiment.

I think Greenwood has been pretty good in bring physical presence but I agree, I'd like to see more improvement on impacting the game. He really needs to finish.

He is a good ruckman. Shit at everything else but a good ruckman. They are not a dime a dozen like Jong so their price is inflated and Witts is a long way from his peak. I'm telling you a straight swap Jong for Witts would not happen in a month of Sundays.

Greenwood played his best football for North Melbourne in finals.

so you haven't signed Jong and Stevens. Sounds like cap pressures is just starting to kick in. can you imagine what it will be like in 3 years when your young mids all want more money? You'd better win a flag in the next 2 years.

No doubt, although i doubt Stevens and Jong are going to break the cap. You are correct, some creative list managment will have to occur when String, Bont, Macrae, Libba are due again. You hope like Geelong did that the young guns can see the success ahead....Possibly. GWS will have same issue.
I don't like to troll other boards, I just felt that perhaps Jong was being under-rated by some here. You are correct that a lot on our board sook up when it comes to trading.
The one that I would trade if the right deal came along, and it would have to be a great deal, would be Jack Macrae. Super player but we have a lot of his type and he probably holds the most value for other clubs to look at. Not because I want to get rid of him, it is purely to try to improve our list with a player we are more in need of.

Greenwood has been very important shutting players out of Games that has helped us Win games.

I agree though he don't get a ton out of him Offensively

I think that's a bit harsh. He has shown improvement; however has had little opportunity this year only playing 2 games in an unsettled line up. He's only 23 so we need to remember that this isn't uncommon for big men. We've made a conscious effort to go with Grundy which is fine and what we needed to do but I still think Witts if given opportunity will make it at AFL level, just not at Collingwood and certainly if we can develop Cox in that second ruck role.

Harsh yeah , but I think we have gone with Grundy as he doesn't seem to panic in congested situations. Witts doesn't fill me with confidence with ball in hand , Grundy is a great link player and great in traffic for a ruck. If Witts can dominate hit outs , that's a different story, but he hasn't shown he can impact in that area.

Agree with that. Nothing wrong with grabbing him it makes me happy we are getting a new player and all that but as so becoming a much better side I don't feel like he is going to be the difference.

Not really. i think we have a list that is pretty good, that is envied bu a lot of clubs for the young talent we have amassed. If that is arrogant then i am guilty, doesn't mean we will win a flag. However we are in a good position to have a red hot go at it in the coming years. I think most football followers would agree with that. When Bont and String come out of the next contract i have no doubt there will be massive offers, so we have to be smart how we list manage. We have never really been in that position before, so it is a new concept.
I did say Possible success in my post, I never once said we were guaranteed success.
But I stand by my statement that we have a good young list of players, there are gaps and that is where trading and smart drafting comes into it.
Dalrymple seems to be an excellent judge of young footballers so we will see.

I disagree and wonder if many people actually watch players. I sometimes struggle with peoples ideas about players.

as long as we don't trade Witts after putting all this development time into him, his best is still a few years ahead in my humble opinion.
