I'll just add one more thing before I leave you guys to your discussion...

Most here seem to think that you guys are really keen on him or that Bucks has sought him out. It's also very likely that Jong's management contacted the Pies and said "Lin is keeping his options open, mind if we come have a look?"

In which case any club would be crazy to refuse.

Agreed its in clubs interests to keep player managers happy

In saying that has anyone credible confirmed it is actually true

Could potentially squeeze Blair out of a defensive small forward spot on the strength of his pace and marking but not sure his ball use is as good. The others all have him covered at this stage. Doggies have apparently offered him a contract beyond 2016. Appears he's doing a Toovey and checking the market.
Been reading this thread with a bit of interest. Surprised at the negativity toward him to be honest.
He is hard as nails, fast and good overhead. Plus he has a little bit of campaigner in him.
His polish isn't Pendlebury but he is at breakaway speed a lot of the time so can turn it over.
As far as being a small forward, he is a bit bigger than that. I think he is listed at 188 but would think he is a similar size to Pendles.
I reckon he would be a good fit to be honest. I think our midfield runs deeper although your top end midfield talent is slightly better.
A swap with Witts might be a fair trade, with tooing and froing of picks.

We certainly have a need for some more speed on the list. Outside of Varcoe and maybe Sinclair do we have any really quick players? Sidebottom and Treloar seem reasonable enough speed-wise but are hardly blistering.

I don't get why they would court Lin John. The player-type we need is someone like Jason Johanisson or Caleb Daniel -- i.e. speed and kill off back half and the same in the front half (i.e. a skilled crumber)

Bucks love his Foot Soliders:mad::thumbsdown:

Interesting observation Dave. So exactly which foot soldier would you have left out against Carlton and who would you have played in their place, and why?

I did a rare thing and ventured to the board of another club, (usually couldn't give a rat's what they're up to).
Apparently Jong had the blessing of the club to explore options.
For mine this implies they don't rate him or they have too many of his type.
Hope it's the latter.

Bit of a price difference between those guys and Jong at the moment. You did even have a first round pick to put on the table and that's what JJ and Daniel would be worth. Jong might only cost you a swap of second round picks though. Koby Stevens is probably ahead of Jong and we can't play both in the same team because they're both a bit crash and bash and we have our quota of them with Libba, Wallis, Picken, Clay Smith ect.

Could be a win for player and clubs if this hadn't of leaked. Jong will probably be dropped this week to make for Stevens coming back from injury and now the club is going to cop more heat. Not a great effort for manager, player and the Pies(or Dogs) to keep it secret.

This guy can play. just needs consistency and games. The negativity about Jong is a pisser and opinions mean jack shit including mine. If the pies want him, they will get him. Hine couldn't give a **** what's said. I think Jong would be awesome for the pies.

He is complete an utter shite

I will literally laugh my a$$ off of you trade for him he is that bad.

Some deluded blokes in our forum still think after 5 years he is about to break out.

He is hard as nails and tries hard but simply doesn't have the tools to be a decent AFL player and is a complete liability against good teams.

Watch him closely and his positions and marking are awful, fumbles, handballs to ground far too often, gets caught behind play and out of defensive structure.

Your welcome to him if you want him guys

I didn't, actually.

You learn something new everyday...

That was actually one of the great draft lies. One of the great benefits of Asian genes is their apparent agelessness... he was actually 73 when drafted but a diet high in fish and seaweed keeps him young.

Everybody have fun tonight, everybody Lin Jong tonight
Very good. Very witty

(For what it's worth, I'd prefer to let Jong pass)

What could possibly go wrong

Gee, loses impact when it has to be explained... See Bringoutthegimps weekly contribution to team changes.
One of the very few posters I've ignored. Not because I particularly dislike him, but because he adds absolutely nothing of substance, just random, out of context hate on Frost.

Havent read the thread and I like Lin Jong. Hes a tough solid goalkicking versatile midfielder, albeit with limited upside.

Unfortunately its exactly the type of player we are not looking for. Sadly I agree with Mark Fine. First time for every thing. We have plenty of depth but not top line talent. Jong just adds more strong bodied midfield-forward depth . As does Thomas Elliot Ramsay Langdon Scharenburg Sier and maybe Swan when they come back next year.
