Thats interesting - quite a few dogs fans wouldn't do Jong for Cloke. Shocked that Cloke is viewed as being so poor that White plays ahead of him.

That was Jong's best game in over a year - that's as good as its been for Jong - so if you guys aren't keen after last night you never will be.

Still can't work out why butchering teams like the Dogs and Pies would offer a ball burner like Jong a big contract.

Certainly can't work out why the poorest set shot team in the league would target Cloke.

Interesting to see what happens.
 
We don't want or need Jong as he'll just serve as a roadblock for our developing young mids - don't forget we have Wills, Phillips and Sier to push through in the next few years as well as Thomas coming back next year and they are all similar, so I wouldn't be wanting to trade for a bloke who is nothing special and may affect the development of our kids.

Witts is being bandied around as a potential offer but with Lobb likely to be heading west at season's end (if the media reports are to be believed) then Witts should be held back for a GWS trade - maybe Stewart and a pick exchange to get another 2nd round pick (or move up a little)?

That's what I've been saying... put jong in that 2012 goldsack forward pressure role, and he'll serve us well. We need to do better at locking the ball into the opposition forward 50.

Supposedly the big knock on him is that he's a bit absent-minded defensively, and can't really play as a forward either.

Honestly, I don't see why we need him. Better than nothing in return for a trade, but we're kind of obliged to play him or at least implying we're going to give him an extended opportunity if we're trading him in, and I don't think he's really be best 22 for us with everyone fit.

Agreed. Looks like the club has Mayne in mind for the defensive forward role I mentioned

Would rather just keep Blair in that role, and spend the money elsewhere. Puts up the same numbers as Mayne, is two years younger, and is obviously a familiar and long-standing member of the club.
 
He won't come, off to Gold Coast or somewhere else.
Actually I don't know this.
Just not fussed on he at all.

Do NOT see him as being certain player in our team week in week out, or not best 22.

16cm difference when the ball comes forward and there's a chance for a mark. Blair 172cm. Mayne 188cm.
 
Though I think he has some talent, superfluous to our needs is jong, can't see the real reason for us being interested really. Also with Mayne, think his best footy is behind him, rather run with Crocker, Elliott etc and chase a more bigger frame forward.

IMO Mayne will kick more goals than Blair in a Collingwood forward line. Mayne had 18.17 (versus 15.7) this year in a poor freo side which generated the lowest number of inside 50's in the league - and that's not over a full season, he played the last several games of the season in defence. Over there careers mayne finds more opportunity in front of goal and being 14cm taller and 6kg heavier, I think his tackles will be more effective too.

Blair is supposedly also in the top 25 % of income earners at the club.... I don't rate Blair highly and think Mayne would be an upgrade in ability, outcome and value for money
