The two big performers of the weekend.

Taylor kicked 7 in the Crows smashing of the hapless Richmond
Thomas kicked 6 in the Roos tight win over the strong Dogs

Make a call on who will have the most goals at the end of the year and how many each will kick.

Two young guns I look forward to watching:thumbsu:

Interesting poll. Hopefully with Petrie back and Lachy Hansen really finding his groove we won''t rely on LT as a major goalscorer. So in that regard, Walker (who I really rate).

That said, Lindsay is one of the those blokes who has 'days out'. His issue is consistency and he knows that he works like buggery and he's going to have a good long career.

One thing about LT that is rarely acknowledged outside of North is that he is, for his size, a very very good contested mark which makes him a difficult match up. You need to play someone very quick on him as he has pace to burn, but he's also very adept overhead.

Good poll actually because Walker is notoriously lazy and Craig never hesitates to drop him from the side if he shows it. But Walker is a super talent so should have Thomas covered by enough.

I know its only pre-season trial matches but Tex looks to be in super nick this year. The last 3 weeks he has kicked 5 Vs Freo, 4 Vs Carlton, 7 Vs Richmond.
People also forget how young Walker is. He is still 20 years old and is 194cm and 98kg.

Not necessarily in terms of talent though. One is a KP Forward, the other is a Forward Pocket.

I would expect a KPF to kick more goals than a FP.

Strange troll thread.

Practice match is 1 step from an intra club. Considering Thomas Hasn't gotten a kick since about round 11 last year, poll is ridiculous.

I'd back Walker purely based on the larger percentage of feed he will get.

I'd back Lindsay on a score to feed ratio.
Wow you obviously haven't been watching North for at least a year.

Shouldn't you be on the Port board trying to trade for Kane Cornes. :D

Alan Obst could do with some spruiking and why not sing the praises of every player that can't kick then whine about disposal of the side :thumbsu:

Lets be honest here... Taylor Walker should be compared to Jack Riewoldt... He will be a superstar and nothing short of it...

Lindsay Thomas is good, but not in the same league as Walker...

Walker will kick 60+ goals this year
Thomas will kick approx 30 goals

disagree besides the one game where he had a day out against carlton i think (he took 4 contested marks from memory) you barely ever see him take a contested mark. hopefully we will see more this season

45-60 would be a more conservative figure.

Thomas kicked 29 last year on one leg.
45-60 goals is a conservative figure... however I believe he will have a standout year and will be up there for the battle for the Coleman...

I saw him in the game against us at Visy a couple week back and not many people can out muscle Jamison like that except the elite... Riewoldt never has any luck on Jamison.

Regarding Thomas... i should've said 30+ goals... I believer he will kick in the vicinity of 30-40 goals this year dependant on North Melbourne team entire output for the year.

It's just wrong to compare the two... it's a closer race comparing Eddie Betts to Nick Riewoldt or Buddy

Walkers talent is undeniable, however I'm not so sure Neil Craigs game plan is that conducive to big goal scoring.

If he stays fit, I expect 35-50 goals. Less than 35 goals would be a poor result and more than 50 goals would put him in AA contention.

He is the fittest he has ever been and his application in the practice matches has been outstanding.

I can't agree with that. I think you are slightly overrating Walker and slightly underrating Thomas, and I don't think Jamison is the prime measuring stick for key forwards.

I don't think you have watched enough of adelaide this year it looks like... (funnily enough, for a strange reason, I have watched every one of their games bar the freo one)...

It looks like a clear focus on stretching oppositing defence has been place with 3 big players that all require quality opponents... this will be to the advantage of the crows forwards as one on one they will hardly get beaten, particularly Walker...

There are many type of forwards, the fast lead, the high jumping and the strength based push of the opponent and outmuscle them... Jamison isn't Scarlett by any means, however there is one type of opponent he does beat everytime, and that is the body on body/push of the opponent type (aka Bradshaw, Pods, etc)... Walker plays this kind of role too, where he holds out the opponent... and wins most times... and he did that a couple of times against Jamo... which was really impressive...

I am probably overrating him abit, but I just love how he plays...

Regarding Thomas... I do not underrate him at all... I actually argue the case that he is underrated in general... like you said, 50goals would be pushing toward AA, I don't think he is at that level... however he is a 40goals a year player in my opinion... which is a great return from a small forward...

I just think the comparison here is only going to have legs if Walker gets injured... apart from that, I just don't see how anyone can argue Thomas to kick more goals

The 2 players are a poor comparison. You won't get any argument from me on that point. I would expect Walker to kick more goals.
