Notice of the AGM on 16th December would have been received today by members eligible to vote (all members eligible from next year). Apart from usual minutes and financial statement business there is also a vote for 3 board positions - Bob Sharpless, Leigh Matthews and Mick Power are all required to retire their positions as per the constitution however they have all re-nominated (and Matthews and Power are endorsed for re-election by Sharpless in the letter). There are two extra nominees - Chris Raleigh who has had a go before and Julie Greenwood who I haven't heard of before. Both of these candidates seem to be running on 'fan representative' type platform according to their statements. Chris Raleigh's is probably a little bit more aggressive in tone ("Sharpless was never elected, had a conflict of interest with Springfield etc).
The idea of a general fan rep on the board is not a completely bad one I think but I'm not sure exactly how they could represent all fans or whether it needs to be a board position. The board troubles of a couple of years ago are behind us and things off-field seem to be travelling along basically ok. Any thoughts on these board positions and who should fill them?
Voting forms have to be received back at the club by COB on the 14th of December.
