Re: Round 13 - Brisbane Lions v Richmond

Your holier than though attitude seems to deprive you of any sympathy for (and it appears, understanding of) the predicament the Lions have been left in. I hate to break it to you, but it will be a few more years yet before we have a balanced list with a core group of players in the 22 - 28 age range.

What attitude Grim, for not constantly looking for and hiding behind any excuse so as not to attribute any blame on the club whatsoever for the position it finds itself.

The predicament we find ourself in is our own doing and I hate to break it to you, but it is plain as day that our list is shot and will probably worsen once one or two other required players flee the pride in 4 months time.

I was referring more to the 'in-your-face' posting style. I thought your response to BR's post was unnecessarily aggresive. You seem to spend most of your time directing anger at the club, which is wearisome enough, but to have a go at others for not doing the same is going a bit far.

Completely disagree and think you read way too much between the lines, or at least with my posts anyway. I'm sure your preference would be to have me not post at all, which I suppose you have the power to do anyway.

I think you would add more to the site if you demonstrated a little humility. If you phrased things as your opinion, instead of the definitive truth, then I believe it would lend to more intelligent discourse. If you are going to be taking the club to task all the time, some will still find it tedious, but it would be much more tolerable if you weren't so in-your-face about it.

And it would be great if you lightened up a little. The game is there to be enjoyed, is it not?

Grim wouldn't abuse his power. Won't hear of it. I was 'warned' (thinking of seeking psychological advice) for typing 'f' followed by a series of 3 symbols (trying to consider all the sensitive souls out there. Apparently, that makes me a 'swear filter evasion' person. Absolutely soul destroying. Wasn't aware if i actually typed **** i may have been ok?

Soon find out, i guess. All power to you Grim, love your work:)

Ah, the filter does work. Life affirming indeed.

The rule can seem strange but the thing is that people will change a little bit of a word to get around the filter but still basically let you see the whole word. So we had to make the rule cover any attempt to get around the filter.

I don’t think any of the mods are personally bothered by the language themselves. But a bunch of young kids do read the site so it is just not on.

And employees of religious institutions! I blush regularly when reading this website:eek:

Your desire to jump at whatever opportunity arises to have a go at me has already been noted.

Over the course of the year the moderators have been updating the opening posts of players' roster watch threads to include:

* twitter page (if applicable)
* a summary of events;
* contract status (not always known);
* Merrett-Murray results;
* All Australian selection (just realised this isn't finished yet);
* Coaches' votes;
* Mike Sheahan's top 50 (if applicable); and
* tribunal record.

It is hoped that this will give posters quick access to information about a particular player, whether it be for personal curiosity or to win an argument on Bay13.

All current players have been completed, and it is planned to do the same for past players going back to 2007 (when Roster Watch started). No time limits have been set to complete this.

If anyone spots any mistakes, assume it was one of the other mods' fault, and let me know. If anyone wants any further information to be added, feel free to comment.

Love the way this has been setup. :thumbsu:

Maybe a possible sub list by jumper numbers listing the years that number had been allocated to a player? [seniors only as this could get a little complicated if reserve games were included]

Freddo, information that can be found elsewhere hasn't been included. For example Brownlow votes can be found here. Jumper number history can be found here.

Is that what you are talking about?

Might need to open/view pic? But you get the idea.

I'm happy to collate/document the guernsey number info if you think it might be a worthy addition.

If not I might still do it and keep it for my own records anyways... :p;)

Grim's being a bit humble there, but I think we all know he puts a lot of time and effort into Roster Watch, which makes it a very handy resource.

Yeah, I see. That could work.

So there would be a single thread, with a post for each number, which would get updated each year?

In chronological order?

Yep - once set up one only needs to add or adjust the first/top line.

And yes, if all linked to one thread then Jumper Number could [although a little nerdy?] coincide with the post number... :D

Well I say fire away, and see how it goes.

I'll leave it in your capable hands.

what about each players percentage of victories in the games they have played:D pretty easy for some of our blokes:D

If you want to update 40+ roster watch threads every week to keep that stat up to date... go for it. :thumbsu:
