My major concern is that we haven't won a flag under the leadership of our forum moderators, i am assuming we need a major turnover of our mods ala Vossy to our list.


Here are a few suggestions

Lionshine- i reckon he would be tinny

Mr Ripper- He is thorough and experienced

Finally i think Campbell- Controversial, banned but not Andrew Lovett style banned

Now this is worthy of a quote.

I shall now leave to use the search function to find the Lionshine for Mod thread

I signed up back in '06 and read through for a few days and then bailed out again after reading too much dross and trolling. Seems to be much friendlier and more informative now from what I've seen in my limited time back lurking.

Totally agree… Acuguy is a n00b, weevil is a n00b, POBT is a n00b, Grim is a n00b but that freddie fellow is the biggest n00b on bigfooty.

• The roster watch has to be the most comprehensive opinionative AFL player profile list on the net.
• The addition of links into the roster watch to discussion type threads elsewhere which keeps the player threads ‘uncluttered’ with rants.

IMO the mods are predominant, prevalent and effectual with the running of the board and are quick to judge 'troll' type posts from supporters of opposition clubs with a Brisbane bias... as they should.

its actually quite laughable that this topic is up if people cant be honest...

I didnt menion anyone's name....seems the power trip continues with some mods...

I know how quickly things can spiral into continuous public spats that annoy everyone on public forums, so I appreciate that the mods may need to be a little draconian at times - I really don't see that as a power trip.

i hardly post here now and did notice the improvement but actions like Weevel muzzling people after he asks for feedback is very disappointing

The idea of the thread was to look at ways about what is good and what could be better about the Brisbane Lions board now.

Your original comment was 'this place appears a lot friendlier than it was a couple of years ago'. One of the strategies the mods used to achieve this was to move on from all the nastiness that happened previously and to try and avoid digging up any skeletons. Hence why your post was edited. If you feel that anything relevant was lost then please clarify.

A feedback thread is not an invitation to let it all hang out. Board rules still apply and it is expected that people remain civil. It's not all about the mods either - we have received comments about such things as picture posts, jumper threads, etc and this is an opportunity to engage in a discussion about such things.

Yeah, feedback is to enable improvement. What happened a number of years ago doesn't really enable this board to get better from this point on. We do tend to moderate more closely on posts which drag up past issues in relation to the running of this board. That's not because of some alignment or loyalty towards (or against) past moderators but is more about a peacekeeping attitude. We have plenty of heated debates on important issues - to enable that to continue, we always try to ward off confrontation when it is personal.

I should add that we do appreciate the comment that things are going well around here. The feeling the mods get is that the board is travelling really well and, if that is the feeling from the posters as well, then it is a good sign. On the other hand, if people have criticisms about the way things are currently being run, then we are all ears.

Just a genuine question, certainly not meant to be antagonistic or anything like that, but.......unless the above poster, NoelMugavin, said more things other than "seems a friendlier place now than a couple of years ago", I seriously can't see anything wrong with that..

you see I agree with him, and that is due to the good work of you mods (god I hate giving you lot praise, you'll get big heads and be unbearable to live with!!)

We have all been given a kick up the ..um er ..bottom, told to be good children, and we have been.....

We are now all good little vegemites!

Settle petal, you took a swing at someone who is not here to defend themselves. It was patently obvious who you were talking about, there was no need for that sort of personal abuse.

Heated discussion about topics people are genuinely passionate about is cool, honest discussion of issues people are unhappy about is cool; king-hitting former mods is not cool at all.

patently obvious ? I dispute that...no names were mentioned...and I beleive that there was no reason for the post to be edited...

as to the person not being here to defend themself...nothing was said about anything in particular so that shouldnt be an issue...

and if there memory serves me correctly there were also more than one female mod in the past.. so i could be talking about anyone

not my fault if others know who i am talking about..ive tried to be as veiled as possible.

i do beleive this place was a shambles at one stage due to the ego of one or more of the mods...i do think it has appeared to be better

i believe the postive comment ive given this forum was turned into a negative by unecessarily editing and you maybe being precious

...you cant change people's opinions of what has gone down here in the past..as i said its a prime reason why so many people left here in droves and joined alternative forums...it is a good thing people have come back and may have changed their opinions.

but please dont ask questions that you dont want truthfully answered.

so lets move on and if anything please take my concern of unwarranted editing on board as constructive criticism.

FWIW I only very casually lurked this board during "the turbulent times" and I was immediately aware of to whom you were alluding.

The bickering was my primary reason for not being active back then, so I'd personally rather that particular pandora's box was left shut.

I'm not trying to pick a fight - just trying to point out that you weren't as subtle as you may have thought you were.
