I wouldn't mind a placeholder thread created earlier in the week with the previews added as they become available. Not a big deal though.
This

The previews have enough 'status' about them now that I suspect most people will go back and read them anyway.

I'm fine with how it is. I prefer the previews to go up first, because otherwise it's easy to miss them if you're just clicking the "go to first unread post" link. I can't say I'd notice a burning desire to comment on an upcoming game before the thread's been started.

I think the people that helped setup the twitter thingo need a prize.

Mods excluded.

Brisbane posters,

The Brisbane Mods are currently in discussions and we want to know what you think is best for the board.

This issue relates to the Pre Match Previews. The current procedure involves organising a perspective from both sides and then using that to start an official thread. The benefit of this is obviously the preview itself. The disadvantage is that there is a lag time between when last week's game finishes and when the discussion for next week's thread starts.

So we want to know:

1. The extent of this (the lag time) being an inconvenience - ranging from "Of course it's not a problem, why would you even ask me:confused:" to "This is utter bollocks, it is totally ruining my BigFooty experience"

2. How you would like things to happen (regarding this issue), whether that be whether you want things to continue as they are, or whether you want anything to be done differently.

I have no problems with a decision either way but I lean towards keeping it the same:

-a stay the same - has worked in the past and I believe having one or two days grace to discuss and review the game is a good thing before posting on the next games new ‘preview’ thread. Yes, there are some posts that are currently noticeable cross references/links to the upcoming round but I see this more of an evaluation of where we are at the conclusion of the game in anticipation of the next game.
-Do many people actually hold back posts related to the upcoming game until the new preview and if so are any of these, train of thoughts ‘lost’ by holding back? I doubt it…

If we did change:

1.when would a ‘placeholder’ open?

2.of the remaining 19 H&A games 15 are on a Saturday (including one on a Thursday) so timing the opening of a ‘placeholder’ the day after, a Sunday or around midnight Saturday would certainly attract speculative opinions.

3.But by opening a ‘placeholder’ at midnight/Sunday would some of the preview writers thunder be stolen by people posting stats/opinion/match up discussion/past game references etc?

As a housekeeping decision it might provide a cleaner start/stop timeline for posts during the season with known cut off dates, as I suggested at the start - I have no problems with a change as it wont effect my style of preview writing but would others have concerns?

I am happy with the current setup - most of the time there is a segue from the end of the old thread to the beginning of the new one anyway (apart from those times where someone can't wait to start a new one pre-preview).

Enjoy reading about the old game before the new one - makes the experience last for longer (which is of course a lot better if it is a winning experience!)

Red carding a Lions supporter on the Lions board after a terrible loss is a dog act.

Giving an infraction to a Lions supporter on the Lions Board for posting his feedback in the wrong thread is an even bigger dog act!

Who is moderating the trigger happy moderators?

If there is a dog act here I would say it is getting drunk and taking your anger out on everyone. Acting in such an uncivilised manner is detrimental to the board, and it would have been bad moderating just to do nothing.

The reason you are posting childish rants in off topic threads is because you know that I don't want to be complicit in derailing the thread. You are taking cheap shots, which is pretty gutless.

If you want to discuss the matter of your punishment do so in the appropriate thread.

Share the passion. Detrimental to the board what a load of crap. People read the board because it is entertaining and evokes emotion. Not the generic we love the club, the club is great, don't question the club line of thought some promote.

Mate there is an underbelly of posters on this board who think you have lost the plot with your warnings and infractions

With the whole Paddlepop Lion debate, clash jumper debate, discussions about the trades (in particularly Fev), how can you even argue that this place is censored to only allow positive discussion?

It is the generic crap that 12 year olds on the playground could give that adds nothing to the discussion e.g. "Staker is a a flog". You try to argue it is emotion but it is the most boring drivel you can read.

Also, are you trying to argue that someone like Quiqley is less passionate than say LionShine just because his posts are coherent?

You are confusing two different issues.

On the issue of generic posts - there has been an abundance of people criticising the club, so I'm not sure what you are campaigning for.

On the issue of abuse - you may find it entertaining to abuse people, but have you considered that the people on the receiving end don't? This board is for everyone, not just you. People can be passionate, but as soon as that becomes abusive, then that is not acceptable. All boards on BigFooty would be the same on this issue.

It is a given that people aren't happy when they receive infractions, but 99% people don't require moderation.

What about those who have received infractions and not been abusive just explaining items on a thread. I can honestly see where acuguy is coming from here.

We will agree to disagree now do the right thing Mod and listen to the feedback and get together with your other mods and work out what is valid and what isn't. Don't argue the toss in the feedback forum otherwise people won't want to post.

I might send you an infraction for derailing the thread, if you wish to post on this topic maybe you should in your divine role as a moderator create a Feedback on Feedback thread!

You didn't receive an infraction. I asked you to have the courtesy of not posting negative information in the 'postives' thread.

Acuguy, has it even crossed your mind that you have done the wrong thing, and that you might gain a bit of respect back by apologising to those you lashed out at?

Oh, I thought I had received a yellow card?

See, that's how much I know about bloody computers. The way I read the notice I had been issed with an infraction.

Please accept my apologies then. Your PM was very authoritive so I took it the wrong way. Anyway, I am discussing that with you privately and I shouldn't have raised it here.

Mate i think you will find my comments were in a tit for tat posting conversation.

That is a fair stretching of the truth.

Come on Acuguy, lets be real here. What you did was a very obvious breach of the rules. Why is it so hard to just admit that you did the wrong thing? Wouldn't that give you a bit of a bit of credibility for if ever you were unjustly punished?

If you have a problem with a post then report it.

Haa haa. Card me if you have to Mods. If poor comedy is above everyone's head then so be it. The mention of Passion gave it away surely. Oh well Irel got it at least.

Dear oh dear! :D

You get 2 weeks for calling someone a pussy or w***er. Surely public humiliation deserves a month!

You just told me you didn't take any offence to it.
